peldriver it was Control with neither of those cards.

My partner Argeaux played against it the match before me and the games went long, about 20 turns, so she got to see all of his cards.

OK, calm down everyone. I was tired when I did my write up. It was Turn 5.

Here's what happened.

Turn 1: Needle Spires
Turn 2: Mountain + Captain's Claws
Turn 3: Plains + Weapons Trainer equip with Captain's Claws
Turn 4: Battlefield Forge Hit with Weapons Trainer 4 + Kor Ally 2 for 6 damage. Cast Militant Inquisitor
Turn 5: Plains + Hit with Militant Inquisitor 4 + Weapons Trainer 4 + 2 Kor Allies 4 + Needle Spires 4 for 16 damage

He got no Creatures out and didn't seem to have access to any of his removal. He missed land drops and only had two Islands out.

When it was done he said, "Oh, so that's it".

I got another Turn 5 win.

Turns

  1. Needle Spires
  2. Mountain + Captain's Claws
  3. Plains + Militant Inquisitor
  4. Battlefield Forge + Weapons Trainer Equip Militant Inquisitor with Captain's Claws Hit for 7 with Militant Inquisitor and a Kor Ally
  5. Plains Hit for 15 with Militant Inquisitor (+1 for Equipment, +1 from Weapons Trainer, +1 from Captain's Claws = 5), Weapons Trainer (3), 2x Kor Allies (+2 for each one from Weapons Trainer = 4), and Needle Spires (4).

This illustrates what I was trying to explain to people about how this deck synergises really well and becomes strong very fast.

It can deal 7 damage on Turn 4 and over double that the next turn.

What is a cheap replacement for declaration in stone?

dlaciebiepan go back and read the Comments if you want to see why they didn't work.

saberclaw12 you can try Celestial Flare (which can deal with Indestructible Creatures and those with Hexproof), and/or Immolating Glare.

They will be NOWHERE near as good, though.

StuBi been play testing this deck sans dec in stone, lighting axe and burn from within, needle spires and battlefield forge. but im running with 19 creatures. so far it held up went 2-1 against mono green ramp and vampire deck.

i was thinking on getting Knight of the White Orchid, is here of the fetch land or the first strike?

thoughts on Bone Saw?

I'm glad you're back enjoying the deck, saberclaw12.

Bone Saw is good for triggering some of the Creature abilities, but it doesn't offer much value apart from that.

All the other pieces of equipment in this deck will buff Creatures up much faster, and give them more power and toughness, than Bone Saw.

StuBi,
Not sure if you're planning to take this deck into EMN Standard, but if so maybe some Sigarda's Blessing?

saberclaw12 getting the balance of Creatures and equipment for this deck is very finnicky.

I can't just add a whole heap of new spells in, as that will weaken the deck overall.

saberclaw12 I've been spending most of my time shaping, testing, and tweaking Heavenly High

I'll try to give this deck some love over the next week.

There is just the right amount of everything in this deck, at the moment.

Just enough Creatures that the equipment has something to attach to, and most the Creatures have synergy with each other in that they either buff when equipment is around, or they beef up Stoneforge Masterwork.

Just enough equipment to ensure that a couple will hit the field per game, and trigger all the Creature abilities.

Just enough removal spells to interrupt Opponent plans.

I tried moving some things around for Sigarda's Aid by taking out one of each removal spell.

To try to get the most of of the Enchantment I put in Cultist's Staff instead of Stormrider Rig.

This led to a few problems.

I was often holding Sigarda's Aid in hand, when I could really have used a removal spell.

While Sigarda's Aid is useful for an Equipment entering the field, it is useless beyond that point. Unlike Stormrider Rig, which you can continually move around.

I'm always wary of using cards that rely on circumstances to be effective. That is the case with Sigarda's Aid.

It has to hit the deck before an Equipment, and you also have to have a Creature on the field for the Equipment to attach to. You also want the equipment to give as much of a buff to the Creature that it can eg. if you attach True-Faith Censer to Stone Haven Outfitter, and next turn Consul's Lieutenant enters the field, you're going to move the equipment.

That doesn't sound like a lot, but in this kind of deck keeping the right Creatures around can become tricky, and you want to move equipment as little as possible in the early game, due to the cost.

As much as I'd love for Sigarda's Aid to work, in this deck it really doesn't.

Now we come to Thalia, Heretic Cathar.

The most obvious Creature to remove from the deck for her is Knight of the White Orchid, which is primarily in the deck due to its First Strike.

Its land fetching ability is nice, but not essential.

I have enough 2 drop Creatures in the deck that I am able to swap three of them for three 3 drop Thalias. Luckily I cracked three of her at prerelease, so there is no outlay.

I was skeptical about how she would work in this deck, but she proved to be amazing.

In comparison with Knight of the White Orchid:

So she is in and Knight of the White Orchid is out.

So there you go, saberclaw12. Feel free to make the change if you're playing this deck and have the funds.
