This deck was originally the Syr Gwyn, Hero of Ashvale brawl deck, a Christmas gift from my boyfriend in 2019. I'd very much enjoyed modifying and upgrading the brawl deck for Alela, Artful Provocateur , so getting a second deck like this was a thrill! Brawl decks are something I wish Wizards would come out with more often because while I don't play Brawl, the decks provide a really nice base to start with while getting a feel for what's in Standard.

This deck still has most of the original cards that were in the 60-card precon, but with more Knights and Equipment as well as a bit of an Elspeth subtheme (this deck has Elspeth sleeves and box as well).

Aside from lands, the only upgrades I foresee happening to this deck are better knights and equipment as they're acquired. Would definitely like to add Kaldra Compleat though!

The part below is WIP, pretty much I'll go over what I seek to keep or upgrade or perhaps explain why some cards are in the deck.

This deck could stand to have a few more pieces of equipment, as it stands, the current inclusions:

Colossus Hammer - original from brawl precon, this one is just funny plus worth it for the free equip

Crystal Slipper - original from brawl precon, will replace with Kaldra Compleat whenever I acquire that one

Elbrus, the Binding Blade   - from old collection, this is the best place for it

Embercleave - no reasoning needed, excellent piece!

Godsend - from old collection, fits Elspeth theme

Mace of the Valiant - original from brawl precon. This one came in the Alela brawl precon as well where's it's particularly strong. I still really like it here too though, one of my favourite pieces of Equipment.

Moonsilver Spear - I've had the promo version of this for years, happy to finally be able to include it in a deck where it will particularly do well. This deck doesn't have many flying creatures so I like how this card can provide that.

Shadowspear - Elspeth theme, plus ridiculously good. One of my favourites from Theros Beyond Death.

Shining Armor - original from Brawl deck

Steelclaw Lance - original from Brawl deck

Sword of Light and Shadow - we only got a few packs each from Double Masters, this one was a nice pull! This one is particularly nice to have in a deck that relies on creatures but can't have as many as other decks can have because of all the equipment taking up some of the spots.

Trepanation Blade - just had it in my collection, will upgrade eventually
