Try pitiless plunderer + reassembling skeleton to get infinite death triggers

Hey, overall looks good, but you should consider decreasing the avg. CMC which is high at 3.6 :)

Consider improving the manabase:

Good luck with your deck.

Thank you for the suggestion. I will gladly look in to that.

Working on that. Not happy with where it's at. Truth be told this deck was rushed and requires quite a bit of revisions.

Quite a few have been made and more to come. Appreciate the manabase suggestions.

Bloodghast with Skullclamp is crazy good. 1 mana draw 4, then make your land drop and do it again. Sun Titan , Massacre Wurm , Kokusho, the Evening Star also work really well in my build.

I've noticed a lot of sacrifices centric decks using Altar's Reap when I think Costly Plunder is strictly better please correct me if I'm wrong.

Dingus Staff actually hurts you twice as much when your creatures die, so I'm not sure if you want it in this deck.

I'd also recommend playing at least 35 lands (I typically run 37ish).

Teysa, Orzhov Scion actually works well with her new self, although it's a headache for the space-time continuum.

Nether Traitor does interesting things with Teysa Karlov! I'm not exactly sure what, but there's probably an infinite somewhere if you want to find it.

Happy brewing!

Pretty similar to a deck I just recently brewed and put together for pods this weekend The Aristocrats Featuring Teysa Karlov. As pointed out Nether Traitor is really easy to go infinite with having any type of creature generator out. I've also been thinking about putting in Tenacious Dead which has a similar effect for a little more mana. I guess it all depends on how you actually want to go about building the deck though.

Have you considered Martyr's Bond? With all your treasure tokens this thing could be Gravepact + some serious artifact hate. Teysa won't double the artifact triggers but treasure tokens + Martyr's Bond seems about as busted as Aura Shards.

In all honestly I overlooked this even though I have Martyr's Bond . I will be adding it for sure as it appears to have good synergies with Bloodchief Ascension .

try a less sexist deck name

Last_Laugh says... #13

Scathainn try caring about something worthwhile. I think it's a witty pun that ties in to his commander's ability... double d(eath)s... get it?

KibaAlpha says... #14

Scathainn

No. As Last_Laugh has pointed out it’s a pun that plays on Teysa’s ability.

Also why would I change the name when you have proven the name to be one that catches the attention of others? The whole reason for a catchy name is to draw people to your deck and you commenting is proof that the name has done that.

With all the decks out on Tappedout a catchy name is one way to draw views to your deck.

I won’t give that up because one person has voiced a dislike of my decks name.

Find something better to invest your time and energy in to.

The name is why I clicked (despite Teysa being one of my favorite characters in Ravnica's lore). It's a double entendre, something that's used a lot in recognized literature such as Shakespeare. Is this Shakespeare's level? Probably not, but I found it to be a witty name nonetheless. I even told a friend I wished I had come up with it. That alone gets my plus one.

As for the deck, it looks fairly solid. Some recommendations I might suggest include more draw effects. Cards like Grim Haruspex , Mentor of the Meek (you have enough creatures that fit the requirements plus afterlife tokens), Midnight Reaper , Smothering Abomination (if you feel you have the right amount of sacrifice outlets...if not Viscera Seer is a good addition!), and Dark Prophecy to name a few. Ayli, Eternal Pilgrim could help as a good sac outlet as well as removal bonus.

Cards I would recommend cutting are:

Grave Betrayal : Really costly & with all the creature removal you're running, by the time this is out, iit's just win more.

Wound Reflection : Just a win more. By the time you're draining life, you should pretty much win without needing this. Especially given it's cost.

Mirage Mirror : I'm not sure if I'm missing something crazy cool with this, but I don't see it's purpose.

Overseer of the Damned : With all the Grave Pact effects you have, this one seems subpar. The zombies tokens sure seem great, but this is something I would cut if you're trying to lower converted mana costs. (I understand if you decide not to cut him though as I do see the work he can pull)

Magus of the Coffers : In mono black I can see running him, in 2 colors, Cabal Coffers is sufficient. If anything, I would run Nirkana Revenant over thihs guy.

ShikiTen

Thank you.

I agree I need to make some changes and add more sacrifice outlets, drop some of the higher CMC creatures and get some card draw going.

Once I make those changes this deck should run smoothly.

Eloquent elaboration guys, still I've to admit that I find myself rather on Scathainn's side. Clever sexist clickbait stays clever sexist bullshit as language forms reality and we're all just better than that...

Back on topic: Love the theme, but I'd be a little worried about sweepers and therefore throw in a Gruesome Menagerie or Immortal Servitude in. Cheers!

I'm sorry but how is this anymore sexist than Daddy Jay & the Lifeloss Gang (EDH)? Both are sexual but neither are derogative. Both are designed to be eye-catching and draw users away from thousands of decks to just one. The only two differences I see here are the following: KipaAlpha's is more clever because it relates back to what the card and the deck does where as yours is just calling jarad daddy, next is the fact teysa is a female character and jarad is a male (zombie). So if you have a problem Alpha's sexual and more clever name then why don't you have a problem with your own deck name? (that btw with the eye-catching name is your 2nd highest deck in upvotes & comments and 3rd in views)

Also: Dictate of Erebos . Great card.

HyperViper191 says... #19

First - You need to protect your commander. As a fellow Teysa player, I am quite familiar with having my commander cost ungodly amounts (16 mana is my record). A protection package works wonders. ( Swiftfoot Boots , Selfless Spirit , Lightning Greaves )

Second - KRAV, THE UNREDEEMED IS SO GOOD. One mana is nigh irrelevant and the payoff compared to the multiple Blood Bairn effects you have is very large.

April 9, 2019 9:59 p.m.

ShikiTen says... #20

Looks like some changes were made to this deck since the last time. That mana curve is looking a hell of a lot better. I see a lot of free sacrifice abilities were added to the deck, but still no Smothering Abomination??! Also, I do not know how I missed this not being on here before: Skullclamp.

@HyperViper191: Those are all solid suggestions, but they're kind of meta-dependent. Lightning Greaves & Swiftfoot Boots are good if this deck faces a lot of targeted removal, but considering this deck can run without the commander, I'm not sure they're entirely needed. Selfless Spirit fails to stop Toxic Deluge, Swords to Plowshares, or any other similar effects.

Now, I don't know KibaAlpha's meta, so I can't say for certain these cards aren't needed, but I wouldn't put them at the top of the list unless the meta was similar to what yours sounds like. Seriously? 16 mana? Sounds fun. Maybe look into the points system of commander so you can get extra points for most mana spent on a commander. :)

Thank you for taking the time to come back and see how the deck has evolved since your last visit.

Some changes and more to come. Little by little.

This deck hasn't seen much play within my playgroup as of yet so cards that appear to be auto includes or should be high on the "Must" list are at this point "Maybe's" until I can get more game time with this deck.

All card suggestions are taken to heart and definitely not just ignored. I appreciate all suggestions, ideas and feedback. :)

April 10, 2019 12:32 a.m.

ShikiTen says... #22

If I made it sound like the suggestions should be ignored, I apologize. That was not my intention. Deck lists get tight quick. I was merely trying to start a discussion to better understand your meta & how you want to play the deck. Talking about what cards can/can't do is good for that. I meant no disrespect.

All suggestions should be taken to heart because, whether or not they're used, they still offer new insight and different perspectives. Counter-arguments to those suggestions can be made as well for the same reasons. A good ol' debate sparks some better brainstorming.

That's all I was trying to do. :)

Thanks for bringing that up, I got some questions though.

Still before that, @KibaAlpha this is your space here after all - are you cool with having that rather un-mtg discussion below the deck or would you like us to move somewhere else?

@chilbi

You are welcome to continue the name debate here if you wish.

Until it becomes, if it becomes a disrespectful argument people can still feel free to post their thoughts and comments on the deck here. Discussion and Debate I have no issues with.

chilbi says... #25

@KibaAlpha Alright, thank you mate!

@Ares111123: My post wasn't intending to argue against catchy names for decks on tappedout at all - neither did I discredit Kiba's cleverness (did I?). I just wanted to point out that there of course is an undeniable analogy between "double d" as in "double death" and "big boobs" and that it - to me- seems at least noteworthy that Kiba is - with or without intention - playing with an, well...let's say breast-enthusiastic audience on this one so Scathainn's argument - although arguably brought foreward quite flat - remained valid at it's core.

And that's basically it: if it looks, walks and talks like a duck, it's probably just a duck. No witch-hunt intended and no offense meant.

Concerning my Jarad-Deck on the other side: I'm afraid I'll need you to help me out on this one. As you might have already guessed I'm not a native speaker and the reference here ought to be 70ies Disco-Slang and "Kool and the Gang" as a band. How is "Daddy" sexual? Like in "Sugar Daddy"?
