Sideboard

That's right, it isn't Splinter Twin, and it isn't anywhere near an adequate replacement. BUT, it is surprisingly strong, and being named after the card "Dictate of the Twin Gods", I feel it can be somewhat of a spiritual successor, at least in name. As a former Splinter Twin player, I'd like to dedicate this deck in honor of my favorite, unfortunately banned, archetype in all of Modern!

The main goal is to resolve Dictate of the Twin Gods, then proceed to let your opponent kill themselves by attacking into a Deflecting Palm or Boros Reckoner. Seriously, that's it. Here's the explaination.

Let's say Dictate is on the field, and your opponent Lightning Bolts you. It should deal 6 damage to you right? Well, let's say you've also got Deflecting Palm in your hand. If you Deflecting Palm your opponent's Lightning Bolt, you're actually hitting them for 12 damage!

Let's say your opponent swings in with a 5/6 Goyf under the same conditions. What happens? Well, you Deflecting Palm that Goyf, hitting your opponent in the face for 20 damage. While the Twin Gods are out, Your Boros Reckoners and Deflecting Palms reflect damage back by quadruple!

Basically, this deck literally just wants to sit back and wait for the opponent to strike first, then turning all of their damage against them 4 times over. Worst case scenario (We never draw into Dictate or it gets answered too soon), we're just a bad UWR control deck, which even then, in the right hands, can still be pretty good.

The reasoning for why I'm using Dictate of the Twin Gods in place of something like Furnace of Rath, is simply because it has Flash. That is integral to this deck. Being able to Flash it in at your opponent's End Step or say, in response to them Bolting your Reckoner, is very strong, and saves you from Time Walking yourself and letting your opponent take advantage of it before you can. Being a big 5 CMC card, we want to also minimize the amount of stuff we can only play on our turn.

After sideboarding, we essentially just turn into Jeskai Nahiri, which can also present some fun headaches for our opponents depending on what they're playing.
