Vossler You know ive thoguth and thought and cant come up with a viable sideboard option for that kind of removal. Only thing i can do is Magma Jet my own goblin targetted with Bile Blight, or negate a drown in sorrow..

Skudrinka Mmm Obelisk of Urd was considered but too slow for the combo deck. GOod thinking though.

I was considering dropping Stoke the Flames for more Negate main board, changing the sideboard into Disdainful Stroke to replace those spells. Also considering Swan Song main board?

I was also consideirng boarding into a jeskai build but that would be so expensive... that being said im still not sure what do to with Bile Blight esque cards in standard but counter them.

Well, you can go 2 ways with that. You can ether allow the Bile Blight cards to resolve and be more conservative of your tokens or you can go mad on counter spells and counter for Daze (that's a really bad joke). If you go the resolving way and let them wipe your board then I would F#ck up there board as well. If you go the counter way, you want to go an more early game aggro and want to set of Descent of the Dragons as fast as possible. To be honest, I think your going to have to let the card resolve and try overpowering the opponent with the same tactic.

Reset Comments! Thanks everyone!

Focussing on the sideboard currently, but I think the mainboard is pretty close to being done. I've seen other people trying out the Battlefield Thaumaturge + Descent of the Dragons combo and its pretty neat! I like Impact Tremors in those builds. I think we need more Negate mainboard but i think the only thing i can afford to drop is Stoke the Flames. Also considering bringing Dragon Tempest up to a 4 of due to it being a big part of the combo.

I will be piloting this deck tommorow night, will let you know how it goes and against what match ups, then what i think could be done to improve if applicable!

A decent sideboard card for the cliffs would be Mirror Mockery, you can use it against any dragons that are causing you problems, ot you could enchant one of your 4/4's in order to get more damage in from the Dragon Tempest. You could even enchant one of the rabblemasters to get more punch from him

So report on FNM

Round one: Bye. Well shoot. No testing here.

Round two: VS RDW. Wow, I had no chance. T1 swiftspear, T2 double titans strength, i lost that round quickly. I got a few goblins out, Game two he turned into a more burn deck, killing every goblin i made. 0-2.

Round three: VS RDW. THis was a token variant, splashing black and white. It was interesting, I managed to get the combo off game one! HE was super impressed. I got a little cocky and blocked his 1/1s, he then Anger of the Gods second main phase. Oops. I learnt, always take the damage. I still won, sideboarded in Stormbreath Dragon and won quickly. 2-1

Round four: My opponent dropped so no testing here either unfortunately.

Verdict: I need a way to deal with tokens, RDW variants are running rampant here in my LGS, perhaps Circle of Flame or Scouring Sands even? Hunting down Thunderbreak Regent i think it'll be good mainboard, as Stormbreath Dragon was a real powerhouse that at the least distracted my opponents from the combo pieces a bit.

pipthebest seriously a good card, i worry so much. All i could do is counter it or else just fail completely.

Antonius_Cleus Thats an interesting point, i do like the synergy with 'pinging' every combat.

I need to increase Descent of the Dragons and Dragon Tempest up to 4 to ensure i draw them every game. I keep finding myself with Battlefield Thaumaturge but no Descent of the Dragons or no Dragon Tempest. The draw in this is insane and always cast Dig Through Time for UU. Good stuff.

Great deck but HIGHLY vulnerable to Drown in Sorrow and Bile Blight. My Abzan Control deck beat it 2-1 in my playtest games against it using those cards. Still I like the deck so I'm gonna give a +1.

Are you sure about rabblemaster in here? He's a great card, but he forces your tokens to attack each turn- often to the demise of their 1/1 little selves. Kind of poetic that they're becoming dragon fodder to your opponent's dragons instead of your own, but that's not the point. I run pretty much the same deck (Erasure of the Khans.), and I often find myself just not attacking at all until I get a flock of dragons to swing with (assuming they survive the ETB damage, of course.).

If you do decide to cut him, maybe Akroan Horse could take his place?

AricMcDonald you have a good point, although, Goblin Rabblemaster doesn't have to be played. One of the main things he would be used for in this deck would be to distract or kill the other person in the event that the combo doesn't come out immediately, and he could even be used to fuel Tormenting Voice. Maybe running 3 rabbles instead would help with being able to draw the combo more often, but Rabblemaster is still a need in this deck. Purphoros, God of the Forge would prolly be good as a one of for the 4th rabble if Kizmetto chose to do that seeing as the Akroan Horse could be used against you as Descent of the Dragons fodder

Or they could attack you with it using Assault Formation, just sayin'

AricMcDonald Rabble has caused me to be empty fielded a lot through much testing and has been dropped to sideboard.

Changed up the combo pieces to form a more midrange/ longer lasting deck with more counter and draw through Commune with Lava and Dissolve and the new addition Chasm Skulker has been a very welcome one. if he gets too big, he trades and explodes into squids which turn into more dragons!

April 24, 2015 4:42 a.m.

Nice. Commune with Lava is a beast. I actually just now realized it's an instant, that makes it even better. In here especially- given that you're running 13 other instants. So if no threats come up then EOT exile the top some-odd cards, then next turn maybe win, maybe burn, maybe do some set up, totally play a land. Yeah.
