This is a pauper reanimator deck (just in case you couldn't tell by the name). It is able to consistenly get an
Ulamog's Crusher
into the bin and cheat it out turn 2 at the earliest, but more consistently turn 3-5. Otherwise, it has a lot of disruption in order to stay alive and control the board. Let's get on to card choices, shall we?
Discard Outlets
Careful Study
: digs deep for what we need and discards the
Ulamog's Crusher
and even also the
Dragon Breath
. Best discard in the deck.
Owl Familiar
: provides a flyer to block a
Delver of Secrets
if need be and lets you draw and discard.
Reanimee
Ulamog's Crusher
is ran as the reanimee because it is the biggest most impactful common that just wins you the game if your opponent has no answer. The nice thing is you can play it with counter protection.
Disruption
Duress
: great for clearing the way of counters, and you can even target yourself if you don't have a discard spell.
Snuff Out
: excellent underused removal. Free removal is always unexpected and useful.
Negate
: protects your
Ulamog's Crusher
from counter and removal.
Draw
Brainstorm
: adds loads of consistency to the deck, easily the best draw spell in the format. Digs so deep.
Thought Scour
: can mill an
Ulamog's Crusher
into your bin and then allow you to turn 2
Exhume
. Pretty sweet. Also adds more consistency to the deck.
Reanimator
Exhume
is the best reanimator spell in the format. A cheap two to reanimate anything you want, and it doesn't even help your opponent out that much compared to how much it helps you.
Other
Dragon Breath
: excellent to discard in addition to
Ulamog's Crusher
as it applies haste to it, so you can often end the game easily on turn 4.
Sideboard
With my sideboard, I like to have cards that are good against more general strategies and a wide variety of decks, like aggro, control, midrange, etc..
Snuff Out
: there are some matchups where you want more removal, like Tron.
Essence Scatter
: useful against heavy creature decks like mono-green stompy and goblins to prevent them from getting too out of control with their board-state.
Hydroblast
: wins you games against red decks.
Dispel
: for heavy control decks.
Negate
: also for control decks, and is good against sorcery speed removal.
Chainer's Edict
: good against decks that I want more removal for and great against decks like Tron that want to win with one powerful creature.
Dragon Wings
: great against decks with a lot of fliers or Delver decks.
