I'll throw him in there tonight for FNM. He was in here originally but once i realized that the fliers usually got stuck being used as blockers by turn 4 it wasn't much of an issue. I'll let you know how it works out. Thanks for bringing it up cuz i completely forgot about him. He would help with my devotion too.

I agree, Arbor Colossus works really well for this deck and I enjoy having it in mine. With the right ramping, Archetype of Endurance can get out as early as turn 4, which would be good against control, but definitely a sideboard item. Your Mistcutter Hydra is also potent against the blue control.
In my deck that is very similar, The Hulk. Big, Green, and Mean, I added Kiora's Follower
for additional ramping (allowing Karametra's Acolyte
or Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx
to hit twice) and Kruphix, God of Horizons
for basically the same reason. I am still in the process of trimming the fat on the deck, but it plays well.

i can't believe i overlooked Kiora's Follower !! That's an epic 2 drop and i don't think it'll take any changes to my lands. I could maybe put in like 2 islands but i doubt I'd see them early enough to make a difference.
I had the god in there for a while before i posted the deck but the game was usually over before i got him out. I have a bad habit of not having 60 card decks. more like 70 or so. My vampire deck is bigger than that and the only thing it does really well against is agro and mill. The last Mill deck i played against got a little upset that I had close to 80 cards in my deck when he lost. The rest of the night he said repeatedly "Who plays with a 82 card deck?". He was peeved to say the least.

I can't see an obvious card(s) to take out to make room for the 3 or 4 Kiora's Follower . Any ideas?

I think 4 Prophet of Kruphix is overkill. Some slight trimming could net you 3 Kiora's Follower . -1 each of: Forest , Prophet of Kruphix , Nylea's Disciple = +3 Kiora's Follower . Job done!

Thanks but for some odd reason people like to kill Prophet of Kruphix every chance they get. i could get rid of another Nylea's Disciple since this deck isnt really about gaining life. i'll make the changes and play it out a few times and see how it feels.

Well, of course people wanna kill Prophet of Kruphix ! It's a legitimately awesome card.
That said, the questions you have to ask yourself for any card are:
"How necessary is it for the deck to function?"
"How nice is it to have? (I.e., "How much does it improve what already works?")
For your deck here, I would argue that the Prophet is an improvement, a "nice to have" ... as opposed to a requirement.
Elvish Mystic ? Required.
Polukranos, World Eater ? Required.
Prophet of Kruphix ? Just nice to have.
Ergo, you can afford to cut 'em down to just a pair.
All that said, I also agree that your deck isn't really about lifegain, either. But there are other benefits that Nylea's Disciple get you.
- Slightly better body.
- Superior green mana devotion (for dovetailing with Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx and Skyreaping .
Your call.

very valid points. I appreciate you breaking it down to me.

After playtesting it a few times I agree with you. Flash and stuff is good but not necessary. I'm going to take out 1 of the Prophet of Kruphix .

How do you think about putting Icefeather Aven in? I was thinking that it would be nice to have a way to bounce the hydra's back to use some of their monstrous abilities. for example Polukranos, World Eater would be a good board wipe and Genesis Hydra would be good if i need to draw some options.

Icefeather Aven is just a great utility card, period. Useful for a couple of your own creatures. Useful to annoy your opponent. 2 CMC for a 2/2 flyer is already awesome. 3 CMC for a 2/2 flyer that bounces creatures ... where's the downside?
So yeah, really useful. How much you think you'll need it is hard to say.

FNM was a bust. I didnt get the cards i needed 2 Kruphix, God of Horizons , 3 Genesis Hydra and 3 Kiora's Follower ... Had to put most of my sideboard in just to have a legal deck. I was good enough to be at table on on round 3 but not to be consistant and win. ended up in 10 out of 25ish players. Maybe someone local may have some extras to trade...hint hint aeonstoremyliver lol
Also thinking of running Chord of Calling . I know its a great card i just have to make some room for it after I test my finished deck out.

Lol, I don't have much Standard stock.
I've heard that Bow of Nylea is good. Also some fetches to go along with Courser of Kruphix . I would consider running some counterspells either main or side, especially for Anger of the Gods . Stubborn Denial seems good.
I was going to suggest you run 2x Chord of Calling ...
October 14, 2014 8:05 p.m.
I was also thinking about running 2Nylea, God of the Hunt . Not only will it help with the green devotion but it gives my stuff trample. I tried out the courser and it mainly helped my opponent save the counter spells for the good stuff.
The side board suggestions are great. I can never pick what I need.
Thanks

I have a deck similar to this, I use Arbor Colossus for my deck, it helps with the reach and it gets to destroy a card as well!
