Sideboard

Standard four color Dragon control deck.

**DRAGONS**

  • Foul-Tongue Invocation: Net yourself some life and force them to sacrifice a creature.
  • Draconic Roar: Perfect for taking out smaller threats and netting some damage through to your opponent.
  • Crackling Doom: Get rid of their biggest creature and hit them for two. A great multi-hit spell.
  • Radiant Flames: Wipe the board early game to make your single targets more effective.
  • Hidden Dragonslayer: A sneaky hit to one of your opponent's big creatures with a way to net you some life with lifelink.
  • Utter End: A one of exile for a problem card, like Planeswalkers.

  • Silumgar's Scorn: A cheaper variant of the counterspell which runs with Dragon decks.

  • Ojutai's Command: Counter their creatures, gain life, draw a card or return your Dragonmaster Outcast or Jace, Vryn's Prodigy   from the graveyard to the field.

  • Tasigur, the Golden Fang: Force your opponent to choose which spell you get back.

  • Dig Through Time: Seek the answers you need when you need them.
  • Jace, Vryn's Prodigy  : An early game looter that turns into a way to recycle instant and sorcery cards from your graveyard.

  • Dragonlord Ojutai: A beast of a hitter with a built in anticipate that is also hexproof. What more could you ask for?

  • Dragonlord Silumgar: Take control of a threat and use it against them. Force them to kill their own threat or die by it.
  • Kolaghan, the Storm's Fury: A beater that is able to be dashed. Don't want to leave him on the field? No problem. Dash, deal damage and return it safely to you hand.
  • Silumgar, the Drifting Death: A hexproof, possible board wipe against smaller creatures. A good end-game creature.
  • Dragonmaster Outcast: He may not be a dragon but having the ability to shoot out 5/5 Dragon's on your upkeep every turn was enough to squeeze one of into the deck.
  • Foul-Tongue Invocation: Killing a creature while gaining 4 life is a win/win, every time.
  • Ojutai's Command: Another way to slow aggro or irritate your opponents. Counter a spell, draw a card, bounce a creature or gain 4 life.
  • Soulfire Grand Master: Every burn you play will net you life and give you the ability to buy back spells to play multiple times.
  • Hidden Dragonslayer: A 3/2 lifelink creature that destroys a big creature when it flips. Win/win.
  • Sideboard

This was thrown together to combat both aggro decks and control match-ups. I have detailed the sideboard changes for each below.

Aggro is a problem for any control deck and being able to survive past turn five is essential. I recommend side-boarding any of these in:

    • Radiant Flames: Deal one, two or three damage depending on how many colors you want to use and destroy their boards early.
    • Languish: Another decent hit to wipe their board, excellent for taking out Thunderbreak Regents.
    • Tasigur, the Golden Fang: Can be a one drop tank against aggro if you fill your graveyard fast enough.
    • Kolaghan's Command: Hand control and a two damage burn to take care of their smaller targets.
    • Crux of Fate: A good board wipe that won't target your creatures. Perfect for clearing their defenses.

Playing against control is already a pain, but playing a mirror match against control takes strategy and being able to outwit your opponent. I recommend siding in any of the following:

    Updates Add

Took third at Game Day, but I'm extremely happy with the deck.
Game one: 2-0-0 (played against a Sultai Eldrazi deck)
Game two: 1-2-0 (played against a Jeskai Black deck)
Game three: 2-0-0 (played against a Temur Omnath deck)

With some more tweaks, I think this will be a great standard deck.
