My Martyr Life deck that has consistent wins against all varieties of decks. The more realistic CMC of this deck is 1.77.

The Land:

4 Flagstones of Trokair - Great lands that not only protect you against land destruction, but you can thin your deck out by using the legendary rule to your advantage! Tap it to float a white mana, then lay another Flagstones of Trokair on the battlefield to send the tapped one to the grave, which triggers the land fetch from your library where you can get a Mistveil Plains or just a basic Plains.

2 Ghost Quarter - Used to destroy your opponents land. Good against Affinity when they're struggling for land, great against Tron, and a great way to remove pesky man-lands.

1 Mistveil Plains - It can be fetched with Flagstones of Trokair and its best uses seem to be send creatures with CMC of 1 to the bottom of your library before you lay a Ranger of Eos OR sending a Squadron Hawk to the bottom while always keeping one in hand, so you can constantly maintain multiple hawks. Having this land in your deck can also be great against mill decks.

14 Plains - Basic lands are important against Blood Moon strategies and I want to avoid having any more nonbasic lands.

The Creatures:

4 Ajani's Pridemate - One of my two heavy hitters in the deck. He can get ridiculously big very quickly with a sister on the field. Very hard for decks without targeted removal to deal with.

4 Serra Ascendant - Another one of my heavy hitters. This guy can be a 6/6 Flying Life-linker swinging on turn 2! Combos well with Martyr of Sands.

3 Soul Warden - Awesome 1 drop, the deck's bread and butter card.

4 Squadron Hawk - This little guy is little, but its a 4 for 1 that thins your deck out!

3 Soul's Attendant - Same as Soul Warden, just less hot.

3 Martyr of Sands - Capable of crazy blowouts. Will make burn decks scoop when you sacrifice her and gain 15+ life. Makes Serra Ascendant a beast.

3 Ranger of Eos - A great card to refill your hand and thin your deck out. You almost always fetch up a sister and a Serra Ascendant.

1 Aven Mindcensor - Great 1 of for shutting down Tutoring/fetching.

1 Auriok Champion - Great draw against Black and Red match-ups. Mainboard if you feel that Black and Red are popular at your local meta.

The Other Spells:

2 Brave the Elements - If a board state is stalled, this can be your way to get in lethal damage. Protects against cards like Pyroclasm, Anger of the Gods, and Whipflare. Allows for great trading opportunities.

4 Path to Exile - This is a great card that just ruin's your opponent's creature strategies and can deny some game-winning combos!

4 Spectral Procession - This card is great. Its 3 1/1 Flyers for 3 mana while being a CMC 6 spell, which is very relevant against cards like Eidolon of the Great Revel. With Honor of the Pure, these spirits can be great units to either defend or attack.

3 Honor of the Pure - This enchantment is nuts in this mono-white, mostly creature deck. Little guys becoming huge in Japan.

Sideboard:

2 Angel's Grace - This is a new choice to bring in against combo decks. Too often do I die to combo when all I needed was one more turn to win. I hope this card can give me the chance to turn my opponent's smile into a frown.

2 Ethersworn Canonist - Great against Storm and Living End.

2 Rest in Peace - Great against any deck that wants to use their graveyard to their advantage.

2 Stony Silence - Unbelievable against Affinity and GR Tron.

2 Sundering Growth - Great artifact/enchantment removal and you can gain a 1/1 Spirit Token with flying, making it strictly better than Disenchant.

2 Suppression Field - Shuts down combo decks using Splinter Twin & Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker. (I believe it hurts Scapeshift a little as well.)

2 Ghostly Prison - Great card to have against lots of creatures. Works well to stop Twin/Kiki combo.

1 Leyline of Sanctity - Good for Gifts Tron and burn (even though we don't really need it for burn.

Went 4-3 and got 28th Place.

This experience has shown me that I'm going the right direction with this deck and that I just need to become more familiar with certain matchups and learn how to better sideboard against certain decks.

Round 1: v Birthing Pod

Won 2-0

Luckily for me, I was fairly familiar with how the deck played on paper, and I got the full grasp of it just before the round started. Path to Exile played a very important role. The creatures that matter are Kitchen Finks, Melira, Sylvok Outcast, Spike Feeder, and Archangel of Thune. Knowing how their creatures and triggered abilities interact with one another is key. Sideboarding Grafdigger's Cage and Stony Silence and holding up mana for Paths will win you the game.

Round 2: v Burn w/ Cruise

Won 2-0

This matchup is unfair to the opponent.

Round 3: v Hivemind (Amulet Combo)

Lost 0-2

This was the first time I have ever played a deck that I despised in Modern. A deck that forces you to cast a spell that causes you to lose the game just seems wrong. I will be better prepared for crazy combo decks from now on. Goodbye Ethersworn Canonist & Eidolon of Rhetoric. Hello 2x Angel's Grace. I want my opponent to lose to their own combos when their turn comes around. This will work great against Storm and Ad Nauseam as well.

Round 4: v Jeskai Midrange

Lost 1-2

Mainboard Geist of Saint Traft and Stormbreath Dragon was completely unexpected. I won game 1 easily by having great aggressive draws. The next 2 games I didn't get what I needed.

Round 5: v Twin Exarch

Won 2-0

Save your paths for the right moments and play aggressive.

Round 6: v Affinity

Won 2-0

I had a very aggressive start and used Path to Exile on his Vault Skirges to prevent him from gaining life, while I just swung away with my Serra Ascendant to victory. Game 2 I had turn 2 Stony Silence and drew Sundering Growth to take care of Vault Skirge.

Round 7: v Twin Exarch

Lost 0-2

My draws just werent there. I was able to get my opponent low in both games, but never had what I needed to prevent the combo.
