I don't think the vortex is conductive to your counterspells. However it would go nicely with Null Brooch and Grafted Skullcap .

10 ramp cards in a mono-blue deck (a lot of psuedo ramp), lmfao this is looking pretty good. I've officially decided against Psychic Vortex now, it can backfire way too much, and by the time I can actually play it, it's more of a win-more if it actually does work.

Alrgiht, right now, I am looking at trying to fit in Eye of Doom as the main thing this deck lacks is answers to threats that slip through its control. Eye of Doom fills that gap for only $0.20. It will eliminate all of the most threatening permanents on the board (which shouldn't be mine if it is played at the appropriate time) during a multiplayer game, which is quite the bargain.
Any and all help trying to fit it in will be greatly appreciated.

Needs more Krakens. +1for being the only other person with a Taniwha deck

Well, my deck is a bit anti-creature, so throwing in more wouldn't really help unless they have sick effects. This deck doesn't make any potential threats until it comes out of nowhere and wins. It sits back and ramps, and saves mana for counterspells, then casts instant speed draw spells when nothing is important to counter. That's the only way I could make this deck viable against non-budget decks given my budgeting constraints (which I put on myself, I spend thousands on this game regularly, this was a fun change though, will definitely build more of these decks).
Thank you for the +1 though, I quickly glanced at your deck, and you should definitely consider some of my tricks that I included in this deck. It seems like it is just a bunch of beaters, which is fine if you are into that type of thing.

Sway of the Stars and Trade Secrets are both banned in EDH. Just letting you know.

guess I deleted that comment when I cleared them...
Banned cards can be used as long as within budget range.

Thanks, if only there was a way to put in my own prices (the islands) so that this could track my deck's fluctuations so I'd know when I had to change things. I tried putting in the cards from the specific sets (cheapest printing) and it seems to have worked for most (there are a few exceptions, I'll try to figure it out)...
I think I am like $0.30 - $0.40 over budget currently mainly because of Evacuation jumping in price, but I don't want to have to go through and manually check everything all the time simply to keep the deck under $10...
Thanks for the like, glad people enjoy my obscure deck, it really turned out a lot better than I was expecting honestly, as did the black one I just made (that one needs a lot of work still, but I got my general idea down).

Yay, now I can finally put in my "Cards Considered" list into all of my decks!

It only works on chrome/safari, only 2 browsers that support HTML5 sadly...
I can do a lot of coding to force a toggle to work for other browsers (write it from scratch basically), but that seems like a lot of work...They'll probably update the other browsers eventually, so whatever. The code I used was as follows:
<details>
<summary>
Text of what they are clicking
</summary>
<p>
Whatever you want to be toggle-able
</p>
</details>

You don't need the paragraph coding in there. It works just fine without it, and saves you a lot of hassle.
December 9, 2013 9:54 p.m.
Easier to copy/paste, as I know that's what everyone is going to do...You're welcome.
December 9, 2013 9:55 p.m.
Oh you actually mean the paragraph breaks, ye you don't, habbit sorry.

No, the paragraph coding is < p > < /p >
And all you have to do is inspect the element of the coding to be able to figure it out, there was no need to post it. So thanks for putting it on your deck~

So, catch me up: what is phasing? it seems like exile + returning at some other time, and in that case, all your mana is stuck in the upkeep (when you float it all). I'm really confused on how this deck works. I understand the combos a little. Dispite my lack of knowledge, it is really cool that you made a deck for only $10 (though your prices are a little low).

@ Triedo
10/4/2004: Phasing in does not trigger "enters the battlefield" abilities, so you don't have to sacrifice again if it phases in.

Ignore the sacrifice part. Just took it off of Phyrexian Dreadnought 's page.
December 11, 2013 8:53 p.m.
Ye i wish phasing triggered ETB effects, could do so many degenerate things with this haha... Believe me, that was the first thing I checked when I chose this general. Phasing is one of those things that is a lot harder to understand than it should be, people get confused about when it triggers and things too, dw.

I'm really on the fence about Psychic Vortex simply because this deck is more control shell than prison shell. Having to discard my hand every turn would probably hurt me way too much, not mentioning having to sacrifice a land every other turn (with Taniwha out). However, it does have a lot of potential draw power, and the turns when my lands are phasing out, I can cast off all my instants (which should be a decent amount).
I really need some help evaluating this particular card and its pros/cons.
