OMG! totally taking this for the shennanigans page XD was this from when we discussed the sphinx and Pyrewild Shaman ?
also, I would like to toss in an alternative win for you. Abhorrent Overlord ? and Sphinx's Revelation as it allows a draw into your deck that you can then draw into some apostles
the overlord would be nice to throw down with extra apostles and get some harpies

This deck seems really fun. It's surprisingly consistent for 100 cards. The only suggestion that comes to my mind right away is cutting down to one Psychic Spiral and adding three Sphinx's Revelation . It's a dead card until you can set up a god-hand to discard everything then mill them out.
I know 100 cards just sounds awesome, but would this deck still function at less? Say 80 cards? 75? 61? o_O
What made you choose 100?

the average hand is 5...let us go with 7, on average you have about 15-20 permanents on the field during the time of a win. So thus, you would have at most 27 cards not in the deck/grave, meaning giving a 13 card buffer is nice (I think that is his reason) plus 100 is a nice round number.
And I would keep 4 spirals, as you can cast multiples rather than cast one and have it countered....

I really like the concept of this deck. I agree with sylvannos in maybe adding a few Sphinx's Revelation for extra draw power. Also, while play testing it, I found it rather hard to use Diabolic Tutor and even casting Shadowborn Apostle due to the scarcity of swamps. I would maybe consider bumping that up to 8 or 9 and reducing the number of plains to 2 or 3 and the number of islands to 3 or 4. Otherwise, +1 from me!

shadowborns are meant to use as discard speed....that is it....the point of having the few swamps is being able to play them and hardcast IF NEEDED! I can see where buffy is coming from (him and I think on a similar page usually XD)

Sphinx's Revelation seems really nice. What should I remove for it?
@Schechefter: interesting, as I have never really had any mana problems with this deck. Maybe it does need more swamps, still not sure.
@sylvannos: the more apostle's, the better it functions. Or so it seems. 100 is a nice number to here, and it gives me lots of wiggle room to put in all the cards that I believe deserve a place :P.

Maybe it was just me but after a few tests I found it kinda hard to get diabolic tutor out due to the lack of swamp pulls :/

Okay...buffy I am about to rant because this deck can be surprisingly tournament worthy and thus I am gonna copy the deck below of what I think it should be (using parenthesis to remove cards I think need to be removed)
Land (35)4x Godless Shrine4x Hallowed Fountain5x Island5x Plains5x Swamp4x Temple of Deceit4x Temple of Silence4x Watery GraveInstant (20)4x Azorius Charm3x sphinx's revelation (+3...CARD DRAW! XD)2x Dissolve (-2 as the way this deck runs, the card draw is more useful than the counter spells)4x Hero's Downfall 4x Psychic Spiral4x SyncopateSorcery (8)2x Diabolic Tutor (-2 searching for cards is good, but this is better for revelations)3x Supreme Verdict (-1 you need shadowborns on the field as an alternate win con too)Planeswalker (6)2x Ashiok, Nightmare Weaver2x Elspeth, Sun's Champion2x Jace, Architect of ThoughtCreature (31)27x Shadowborn Apostle4x Sphinx of the Chimes1x abhorrent overlord (+1 as an alternate win con, you can get tons of shadowborns on the field, or have ashiok and get a decent harpy army then just sac the overlord next turn)

sorry...cant post deck edits vertically...so youll hafta read through it all :/

That's really hard to read. Separate each line with:
< / b r >
...but don't use spaces. Also use:
[ [ CARDNAME ] ]
...to show links to cards.

Really neat concept! I've been trying to make a Shadowborn Apostle deck work and I think this is my answer. I've simplified it back down to 60 cards though, since Psychic Spiral reshuffles your discarded cards back into your library. Plus 1 from me though!

If I'm going to run sphinx's, I would like to run 4x as that is what this deck needs. I'll make some updates.
Thanks for all the support!

On second thought....4x Sphinx's is a little much. I just hate sacrificing 4-of's in a deck like this

3x Sphinx's Revelation (+3...CARD DRAW! XD)
2x Dissolve (-2 as the way this deck runs, the card draw is more useful than the counter spells)
2x Diabolic Tutor (-2 searching for cards is good, but this is better for revelations)
3x Supreme Verdict (-1 you need shadowborns on the field as an alternate win con too)
1x Abhorrent Overlord (+1 as an alternate win con, you can get tons of shadowborns on the field, or have ashiok and get a decent harpy army then just sac the overlord next turn)
1x Shadowborn Demon (+1 again, win con)
1x Rise of the Dark Realms (+1 you have just sacrificed your entire hand....but want/need a demon on the field...sure pump this bad boy our late game)
2x Xathrid Necromancer (+2 UTILITY! sacrifice 6 shadowborns and not just get one demon but also get six 2/2 zombies....just an interesting combination...)

Inces_Velus, you're going away from the main point of the deck by trying to add more win cons. The point of a theme deck such as this one is to have one main way of winning and to build off of that.

Interesting, crazy, fun. +1 nice concept. I think you should have some more controll? Well you have board wipes but if you dont draw into your removal you will get creamed by aggro decks.
October 22, 2013 5:08 a.m.
Well, I usually do draw into some removal, and if not, Diabolic Tutor can always fetch some.
October 22, 2013 10:25 a.m.
Why run Shadowborn Apostle when you don't have a demon creature?
October 22, 2013 2:09 p.m.
Glorious! +1.
I'm gonna build something like this just maybe cheaper though since I dont have the bank to spend on Sphinx's Revelation so if you could help me find replacements for Hero's Downfall and the walkers that would be sweet, also have you considered Merciless Eviction , keyrunes, and Render Silent in the mb, and maybe 15x Shadowborn Apostle in the sideboard?
kidding about the apostle but maybe Blind Obedience , Thoughtseize , Duress , Jace, Memory Adept , and Notion Thief
