Fate Reforged season standard deck.
This deck started out as a just-for-fun standard Simic deck. Then I pulled a few
Shaman of the Great Hunt
after Fate Reforged released and just had to splash some red in there (Which naturally brought Savage Knuckleblade too). It's mostly focused on the green and blue of the original Simic build having slight mana ramp, counter spells, fliers, etc., but has a nice touch of red with haste and heavy hitters.
Mainboard summary:
So, the "build-around-me" here is Prophet of Kruphix. Her synergy with other creatures and instants (primarily my counter spells) is just awesome! When this deck started and was just Simic it was straight reactive control. Now that it's Temur I would still put it in the control category, but I run more win conditions than the typical control deck:
Kiora, the Crashing Wave
, Savage Knuckleblade and
Shaman of the Great Hunt
. The reason for the higher number of win conditions (and higher number of copies per) is that when I sideboard I'm typical bringing in a lot of red so the deck then lends itself quite well to being more aggro than control as I typical I replace many counter spells with burn.
Some notable synergy:
Thassa, God of the Sea + Savage Knuckleblade or
Shaman of the Great Hunt
= Always have something to hit with.
Prophet of Kruphix +
Prognostic Sphinx
+
Shaman of the Great Hunt
= Hit with a flier (that gets bigger) and always have cards in your hand to make sure it lives.
Sideboard summary:
The sideboard is specifically designed to deal with much faster decks and big fliers as they seem to be my biggest weakness as well as picking off enchantments as needed.
Back to Nature
deals with those pesky enchantments that people like to stack all over the battlefield like Chained to the Rocks,
Suspension Field
and
Banishing Light
. It also deals with the "Siege" cycle quite well and handles some creatures that really get in my way like Courser of Kruphix,
Herald of Torment
and Master of the Feast. Feed the Clan,
Winds of Qal Sisma
and
Circle of Flame
is for all them little dudes that faster decks like to run like Goblin Rabblemaster and Hordeling Outburst.
Plummet
is my answer to fliers that my
Prognostic Sphinx
can't handle every time like Strombreath Dragon.
As always, thanks for stopping by!
