Think Emeria, The Sky Ruin is a must have in a mono white deck.

Magicnetarts, yeah. Possibly. There won't be that many situations that it would be used but it certainly won't hurt to have either.

.."wont be many situations"?? >_>

a free return creature to battlefield every turn

.."nah, that wont come up much"

ScavDingo, the point was that there wont be that many times when you meet all the requirements for it to happen. Of course if you have it in your hand, you will play it. Also, land destruction will certainly hit that card asap. But yeah, it is definitely better card to have than just normal plains and as I already said, it doesn't hurt to have it. It had nothing to do with arrogance.

Asher18 personally I think that those doesn't fit he theme of this deck. Karakas would of course be nice to have but that price tag. For board wiping I already have EXTERMINATE! EXTERMINATE! deck so I don't want to make this one to be too similar. also, most of those cards have seriously big manacosts so that goes also against them.

Thanks for the suggestions though.

According to a large math spreadsheet I made over the course of a couple of days (math was not my friend), 37 is the ideal number of land+ramp, so bring it down to that :)

As for Odric, here's my Odric decklist for your viewing pleasure: MagicalHacker - Odric, Master Tactician

MagicalHacker, thanks for your comment. I'll take a good look at that deck for sure :)

Condemn is a very powerful white removal spell in commander. Some people build decks that are very reliant on their commander to win, so putting their commander on the bottom of their library potentially ruins their entire strategy. They then need to shuffle their library and get lucky or use a tutor-like effect to get it back, instead of just casting it again for more mana.

You should try Path to Exile and Swords to Plowshares . Exiling in EDH is quite powerful.

Aefinn says... #11

Ezrius, I might be wrong but isn't it so that when commander is put out of the play field, the user can choose if it goes back to command zone or to other said location (library, graveyard, exile). So in this case it would just go to the command zone and cost 2 more to cast. Even then, very valid suggestion. Thanks.

ness64, thanks. I like Swords to Plowshares . I don't understand why I didn't think of it myself :) I'll pass on Path to Exile though, I'm not keen on giving extra lands.

Mother of Runes , Aven Mindcensor and Grand Abolisher could all be very useful in here.

Aefinn says... #13

For some reason I can't accept nor ignore suggestions so for the moment they stay as the are.

thebdizzle, great suggestions. I try mainly keep this deck as soldier/knight but I will make some exceptions. Mother of Runes seems a very valid option. Grand Abolisher will go to 'maybe' board because I think I already have more than enough cards and it has a bit steeper price tag in it. Aven Mindcensor is okay too, but for meta reasons I will pass on that (because my other commander deck revolves around searching my deck and I dont want to give any ideas to my friends :D ). Thanks!

Also, it's almost obligatory to run Wrath of God and Day of Judgment in white decks. Hell, Planar Cleansing is also great.

Aefinn says... #15

Thanks for suggesting more ness64, but as I previously stated, I'm not going on destruction route with this deck because my other commander deck (EXTERMINATE! EXTERMINATE!) is nothing else but that. This deck would not have meaning if it becomes too similar to the one I already have.

FYI, Luutamo, from the EDH play rules from the dragon highlander site:

"If a Commander would be put into a graveyard or exile from anywhere, its owner may choose to move it to the command zone instead. Details:

  • This is a replacement effect; the creature never goes to the graveyard and will not trigger such abilities.
  • Commanders will move to the library or hand as normal; only transitions to Exile or the Graveyard may be replaced."

The sometimes-called "tuck rule" means that you can force commanders into libraries, since they are neither transitioning to the graveyard or exile.

Retribution of the Meek is a good wipe that most of your creatures can dodge. Ensnaring Bridge will also help you lock down the fatties if you can ditch your hand fast enough, only keep just enough cards for you to attack.

Kjeldoran Outpost is also good for you to have a endless supply of attackers to trigger the commander's ability. And they're soldiers too.

Thanks for the comments, xuldinga77 and yaoi_mendel.

Kjeldoran Outpost seems a valid option. I will certainly keep that in mind. Mentor of the Meek could maybe have some meaning.

Not sure what you consider 'expensive,' so I'll limit my recommendations to just a few dollars.

Here are some control creatures:

Banisher Priest

Fiend Hunter

Fiendslayer Paladin

Imposing Sovereign

Knight of the White Orchid

Some helpful spells and enchantments:

Steelshaper's Gift Fetch that Godsend or the Spike

Crusade

Journey to Nowhere

Nevermore <~ I often play against Maelstrom Wanderer This card tells it 'NO!'

Oblation

Artifacts:

Sol Ring Most expensive thing I will recommend, I think.

Strata Scythe Lets take advantage of all those plains shall we?

Swiftfoot Boots

Trailblazer's Boots

Here's my Mono White deck Isamaru, Hound of Konda if you want to browse its contents. Be warned though, it's for a more competitive atmosphere, and therefore many of the cards are pricy.

Have fun!

[thanks, Evee142. Many valid suggestions! Don't even know why didn't I already have Fiendslayer Paladin in this deck even when I already owned one. Also added some suggestions to maybe board. Steelshaper's Gift will be a future purchase for sure.

Obelisk of Urd naming soldiers. Should also be very easy to cast for free using convoke.

Dictate of Heliod could be very brutal in here.

Intangible Virtue token buffing.

Geist-Honored Monk to create even more tokens, and as an added bonus they have flying.

When I see this deck Elesh Norn, Grand Cenobite comes to mind immediately.

Aefinn says... #25

Thanks for suggesting, Opiumtest5. Elesh certainly would be a nice card to have but if I bought it, I would most likely add it to EXTERMINATE! EXTERMINATE! ☠ instead :)
