Working on refining Patrick Chapin's esper delve modern deck. This deck's goal is to use fetch lands and cantrips like Thought Scour and Serum Visions to fill our graveyard and drop a turn two Tasigur, the Golden Fang or Gurmag Angler with a land open for Stubborn Denial should our opponent try and kill our fatty. In this version of the deck I am trying to clean up Chapin's version and keep it to two colors. This deck truly feels like you are playing a legacy deck in the modern format which is why Chapin put this deck together in the first place. Since we are losing our white splash we lose Path of Exile, Lingering Souls and sideboard cards like kataki's war wage since zoo, burn and affinity are our toughest matchups we need to find good substitutes for these. While Engineered Explosives does most of that work for us, Mutilate is added for more removal, since the deck runs so few lands and exclusively creatures with 5 or more toughness, we can usually cast mutilate to clear our opponents creatures while keeping our own. We also add Whip of Erebos to help get ahead of the burn match up rather than Timely Reinforcements. Biggest problems so far are cards like Surgical Extraction targeting our tasigur or angler. Since we no longer have tokens from Lingering Souls and Timely Reinforcements we add either a few Delver of Secrets   or Tombstalker as alternative win conditions. Also Mishra's Bauble doesn't feel so good in this deck so I've replaced it with Nihil Spellbomb it may cost a tad more Mana wise but it can decimate a mirror match and screw our opponent's Snapcaster Mage also works wonders against reanimation and dredge matchups, can also help stop Proclamation of Rebirth and Return to the Ranks. Nobody uses these cards much but they should. So underused in zoo decks Imo.
