Round one was a bye for me so I got to see all the competition. I was feeling like I was going to be in very good place.
Match One: vs U/B Fairies 1-2
Game One: Bad beats to drawing too many lands. I started with three in hand (which is very risky) and ended drawing four more. My opponent was able to get two of my spells with two Inquisition of Kozilek and Bitterblossom on board in the early game while I couldn't draw spells to save my life.
Game Two: I boarded in all of my Destructive Revelry, Molten Rain and Skullcrack. Another three land hand that led to me being able to put down a turn one Wild Nactl followed by a turn two Eidolon of the Great Revel. Since I was actually drawing spells this game. I won in a very quick manner.
Game Three: I kept my sideboard the same. I started with three Boros Charms in hand two lands and Rift Bolt and my Eidolon. My opponent turn one took Eidolon with Inquistion and things went bad from there. They apparently had the nut draw for all their card draw and counterspells while I would draw a spell every other turn. It was Sword of Light and Shadow that did me in with me not drawing a single Destructive Revelry. Bad beats.
Match Two: vs U/R Land Destruction 2-0
I'm not going into great detail with this one. This was like playing a janky U/R control deck that wanted to recast a land destruction spell with Goblin Dark-Dwellers. I played as if I was playing against control, drew plenty of lands (theme of the night I suppose) and took them out relatively easily.
I was happy how the deck performed. Hellspark Elemental was okay as it let me draw and pretend I drew a burn spell. I definetly felt as if I had the best deck of the night and just got beat by not drawing the spells I needed. I'm thinking of putting in Magma Jet as opposed to Searing Blaze as I think Srying 2 is just a lot of power in this deck.
