I built the deck a long time ago and a few cards like Postmortem Lunge and a singleton Academy Ruins could be great for you given that this deck's largest weakness is the need for Pili-Pala to survive your opponents turn before he can combo since he doesn't have haste. I don't recommend the Auriok Salvagers win condition package though. That's just my personal touch as an ode to the nuts and bolts starter deck that inspired mine. Hopefully you can find some good inspiration from my work! Good luck with this man, Pili-Pala decks are a hard but fun way to go.

have you considered using Dizzy Spell to fetch the banefire?

I played a UG version of this deck, very similar except I ran Helix Pinnacle and Voidslime.

juicytoot Cool!noahband Yeah, I figured architect (building) + pili-pala (scarecrow) + Banefire (burning) = The Name.

Why not run something like Profane Command or Volcanic Geyser over Banefire? They are both more budget than Comet Storm, and can be fetched with Muddle the Mixture where Banefire cannot. I know none of them have the whole "This spell can't be countered" thing going for them, but still. It's something to consider. Maybe even just take out 1xTelling Time --> 1xVolcanic Geyser.

Banefire would never leave as it can't be countered or prevented.

The Telling Time is really crucial, as your trying to assemble a 100% unbeatable combo. Needlessly having another X burn spell just because it can be tutored is pointless when you can just rip through the deck for the better one.

How do you feel about running Anticipate from Dragons of Tarkir instead of Telling Time? It lets you dig one card deeper.

juicytoot the entire point of putting in a 2cmc win con is not simply to have another wincon, but to turn all 4 Muddle the Mixtures into win conditions once you combo off.
One Telling Time checks three cards for a win.
Dropping a Telling Time for a Muddle the Mixture makes 5 cards a win.
From the math alone, dropping any one cantrip for a 2cmc wincon will increase this deck's success rate when combo'ing off.
I'm not saying we should replace every cantrip with a wincon that can be tutored, as replacing cantrips with wincons becomes exponentially worse with each lost cantrip. But replacing one cantrip with a wincon that couldn't previously be tutored is provably better than keeping the cantrip instead.
Now, if a card other than a cantrip could be replaced the loss of which wouldn't hurt the stability of the deck, that would be the ideal card to replace.
So the question isn't "should a 2cmc wincon be put in?" The answer to that question is a mathematically provable yes.
The question is "which card should be replaced?" I'm of the opinion that the highest cmc cantrip should go, but that's for quesobueno123 to decide

How about free spells like Commandeer, Disrupting Shoal or Snapback?

Run Oboro, Palace in the Clouds, it doesn't really do anything more than an island and it cost like 8 bucks! But on a serious note, seeing that your land base is 100% islands, I would throw in Vedalken Shackles. It's kind of expensive (it seems like you are going for budget) but it's a super fun card and it can buy you time if you can't get your combo on line quickly.

Maybe Mind Grind instead of comet storm as it does not target and also has a CMC of 2?
Disrupting Shoal and Commandeer both can protect the combo is even better when you have all 12 cantrips
Snapback might not have a place here but I just think the blue pitch cards are pretty cool

I have added 2 Springleaf Drum for the potential for a combo on turn 3 or if you are tapped out after playing Grand Architect

You can combo on turn three anyway. Turn two play pili-pala then architect turn 3, swing with pili-pala, tap architect for two colorless then you have infinite mana.

Had not considered that :/ but still the Kessig Wolf Run as an alternate win condition it is only one land slot, and maybe Tolaria West?

I hear that the new card Anticipate might supplant Telling Time in most modern decks, since when you're hunting for combo pieces you generally are searching for a specific one, and don't want to keep 1 of the top 3 on the top of the deck as a possible dead draw. I don't know if that will make a difference in this deck, but it may be worth testing out.

IzzetGod Thank you! Those are all upgrades I plan to make when I have more money available for this deck.
