Intro:
My current pet project deck. It runs the normal burn package of bolts from all angles, but I cut back on some of the staple cards for a few non traditional cards.
I main deck a lot more non land hate as it is more of a way to get around delver decks and things of the sort. While this leaves me more open game one to things like merfolk and the like I can easily side board out three to six cards as needed while still having fuel.
Sure having less creatures leaves me more open to things like Leyline of Sanctity you then have to switch gears to a board control deck and hope your little weenies can beat them down.
Side Board:
Your side boards a lot of two of mostly, Smelt to hit two of the big three weapons in Death and Taxes, also hits Imperial Painter too. Traps from Storm, and Dredge respectively, and Ensnaring Bridge / Pyroclasm for army's of dudes (Elf Combo), Re-animator and Sneak and Show.
As for the non-cannon cards:
The biggest one is Blood Oath which when used with Gitaxian Probe can make it a bolt from three - twenty-one damage, but on average is a six - nine bolt. It is an instant and a way to punish people for having many spells, lands, artifacts, ect in their hand as it's damage is based on the chosen card type. Over all great verses people that like a lot of cards in the grip, first thing boarded out against people that play out the hand.
Guerrilla Tactics is a pet project card that is also good at dealing with heavy discard namely Liliana of the Veil as you can kill her if she ticks up to four with just the free burn off it or burn face to catch an opponent off guard. Outside of heavy discard while its a two damage spell for two, it can feel like a dead draw.
The other pet project card is Blazing Salvo most of the time it is a creature bolt, however some times it's a free five damage when the target is something they can't afford to lose (also in that situation might make them have to force it). This is called I need to kill a creature but don't want to immediately have to use a bolt. It is also nice as with two mana you can lead with this, and always have a back up bolt or salvo. Most people rather let the creature die then take ten.
General Notes:
Over all worst match up is anything with Iona, Shield of Emeria because you are mono colored. Also Chalice of the Void on one hurt a lot.
You can keep a one lander as long as at least four of your other cards are cmc one as that gives you four turns to wait on a land, however the deck really is looking for two - three lands to pilot since we run no fetches. Gitaxian Probe can help in this situation as well but more so is to see if they have a way to answer a fireblast.
More to come after more Magic Online testing.
