Somewhat of a budget version of / Tokens. I am not as many running fetch lands, Thoughtseize, or Bitterblossom because I simply can't afford them right now. I feel this deck still functions in a similar mannor to most of the non budget builds. I am looking for some suggestions on how I can improve the deck.
How my deck works
I want to be able to handle creature heavy decks early on. Sometimes it takes a few turns to get rolling, so I need some answers to my opponents threats. I do this with hand disruption and removal spells, I follow up with planeswalkers and various other cards to create tokens. While tokens come out pretty weak I pump them up by using Intangible Virtue
Hand Disruption spells:
4x Inquisition of Kozilek
1x Collective Brutality
2x Despise
2x Tidehollow Sculler
Removal Spells:
4x Path to Exile
4x Fatal Push
Theoretically this should keep me alive long enough to start pumping out creature tokens. Which leads me to the next part of the deck. The token makers...
Token Makers:
4x Legion's Landing
3x Spectral Procession
4x Lingering Souls
2x Sorin, Solemn Visitor
2x Gideon, Ally of Zendikar
Now that you have handled the early threats, hopefully you can start pumping out some threats of your own. The above cards all have a way to produce creatures tokens. The non Planeswalker tokens will only come out as 1/1's, but I have a solution to that...
Pump Up:
4x Intangible Virtue
Ah yes, the ever great Intangible Virtue, each token gets +1 +1 and has vigilance. If you get two or more copies on the battlefield you are producing some serious threats that spot removal alone can't take care of. Gideon, while also a token maker can also bump up your creatures with an emblem.
Mana:
The mana has been the hardest thing for me to get right. Its hard to build the perfect Mana base without fetch lands. I looked to bring in some cards that tap for both & And that have a way of entering the battlefield untapped. I feel like its important to not disrupt your tempo. Cards like Concealed Courtyard, isolated chapel, Godless Shrine and Cave of Koilos have been the cards I have added in. They all can tap for both & and have ways of entering untapped.
Thanks for checking the deck out, any help would be welcomed. What can I add to improve the function? Should I take anything out? Let me know below!
