In honor of my first decent deck, I made a much better version that should be equipped to deal with anything. Obviously the theme, Exalted, stayed, which lead to heavy usage of low cost instances of Exalted: 4
Akrasan Squire
, 4
Duty-Bound Dead
, 4
Aven Squire
, and 4
Knight of Infamy
, as well as 4
Cathedral of War
.
Cathedral of War
does enter tapped; however, it is important because it is a much harder instance of Exalted to destroy. For that reason it is useful in the matches that drag on longer than expected. Nonetheless, turn 4
Sublime Archangel
and
Tormented Soul
generally finishes off opponents.
While
Knight of Infamy
or
Aven Squire
might be able to attack some decks unopposed,
Tormented Soul
is the usual creature to utilize the instances of Exalted.
Fencing Ace
also is a great use since the Double Strike grows well passed creatures able to withstand even the First Strike damage quickly.
To add a little more management of the battlefield,
Athreos, God of Passage
makes an appearance to make letting my creatures enter my graveyard painful for my opponent.
Path to Exile
and
Journey to Nowhere
help clear the way in case
Tormented Soul
is not out.
Harsh Sustenance
can also manage creatures while keeping my life high, but generally it is more useful to do the last couple points of damage to an opponent to win the game.
As for the sideboard,
Leyline of Sanctity
for anti burn and mil purposes.
Order of the Stars
takes over facing another aggro deck. Especially against a mono colored deck it becomes a permanent blocker that, through
Concerted Effort
, spreads the protection to all creatures.
Rally the Ancestors
helps against decks that result in a lot of Exalted creatures, or a
Sublime Archangel
, in the graveyard. It returns them to the battlefield to pile instances that could make the difference of whether or not a
Tormented Soul
can end the game or not.
Batwing Brume
can be devastating against another aggro deck, which is why I picked it over
Holy Day
At some point in the shift between versions I removes all of the
Knight of Glory
s, probably for more
Fencing Ace
s, but I might also put them back and have 2
Knight of Infamy
and 2
Knight of Glory
instead of 4 of one. However, that probably makes little difference regardless of the choice I make.
