The idea is tempo-based midrange (in the sense that you can either play aggro or control depending on conditions). So you have guys that give you card advantage, tons of cheap spells to control the board, and added value from Young Pyromancer. So rather than trying to win by attrition, like typical Modern midrange decks, you're trying to overwhelm the opponent with card advantage, cheap spells, and lots of activity - at every stage of the game.

If only Baleful Strix were legal in Modern!
