Maybeboard

Creature (1)

Sorcery (1)

Pros

  • instant speed win
  • wins without needing to multihulk
  • has built in answers in almost all combo lines
  • built in protection from removal and graveyard hate.
  • wins with a single spell cast
  • high combo density
  • modular multi hulk lines and card packages for meta choices -multiple backup win conditions

Cons

The number of combos in this deck make it very consistent but at a trade off of deck slots. It feels good to play with clear lines to win games. I mostly felt as though a slower gameplan was preferred while accruing card advantage.

Flash + Protean Hulk

Cephalid Illusionist + Nomads en-Kor + Viscera Seer + Blood Artist

Mill with Nomads en-Kor targeting Cephalid Illusionist until Narcomoeba is revealed and put into play

Sacrifice Narcomoeba to Viscera Seer to trigger Blood Artist

Continue milling until Kozilek, Butcher of Truth is revealed to shuffle the graveyard back into to repeat the loop.

If Kozilek, Butcher of Truth is revealed before Narcomoeba then continue milling until Narcomoeba is revealed, Sacrifice Narcomoeba before the Kozilek trigger resolves to have Narcomoeba back in graveyard before the shuffle resolves.

Built in protection from single target removal in the form of Memory's Journey for 1 green by milling the rest of the deck on top of whatever spell or ability is on the stack to have access to it.

Notably Cephalid Illusionist + Nomads en-Kor and Blood Artist are effectively dead draws and require multi hulk lines to discard them and reanimate them or just play them out early.

  • Kozilek, Butcher of Truth is a necessary combo piece that is dead in hand.

  • Cephalid Illusionist is a part of the breakfast combo. Necessary but useless otherwise.

  • Nomads en-Kor is a part of the breakfast combo. Necessary but useless otherwise.

  • Blood Artist is a part of our shuffle combo, Leonin Relic-Warder combo and acts as a hate piece against mirror match strategies.

  • Narcomoeba is a necessary combo piece that is dead in hand

  • Body Snatcher is necessary to add consistency to the deck. It is possible to cast from hand but typically only with a Protean Hulk and a sac outlet in play.

  • Reanimate doesn't progress the game by definition but provides redundancy for destroyed creatures. It also adds lines with Spellseeker for multi hulk lines.

  • Dryad Arbor isn't completely dead in hand but is far from an ideal draw. It turns off Green Sun's Zenith as a Ramp target and is a turn slower from hand.

Dead cards are cards that don't progress the game in a meaningful way or can't be played do to restrictions like cost. Some dead cards are necessary for combos but some can be layered for added value making them no longer dead cards.

Viscera Seer is an example of this.
