Still being fine-tuned, but this was my answer to pod being banned, and therefore people dropping their cards against pod (though abzan getting so big I don't know if that ends up panning out really). Really the playstyle ends up closer to hate bears (where the name comes from) than pod, but there's some obvious similarities. It would probably get better with 1 or 2 wilt-leaf lieges, but I don't own any and their price is sky high right now, so..oh well.
The plan was to play a couple Orzhov Pontiff in the sideboard to shore up against the likely endless line of Lingering Souls I'll be going against, but the price hasn't dropped at all yet eventhough pod is gone (why is that?) and I continue to think it will drop eventually, so for now I'm adding in a couple Golgari Charm's to fill that void. I guess it could be Zealous Persecution also....hmm...
In any case, any thoughts/suggestions are welcome.
Oh, and before anyone asks, Wall of Roots is important because I'm trying to really focus on Chord of Calling, and they really help power out early Chords. Obviously, they also help get out early 4/5 drops while slowing down an aggressive opponent if as well, but Chord is the main reason.
I've taken the deck (in a slightly different form) to one fnm thus far. It did...alright. I went 3-1, but definitely could have won round 3 against bloom titan (made some very bad mistakes...but the deck actually ended up being a bit more complex to play than I thought it would, so I'm still very much figuring it out) and maybe could have won a round against Splinter Twin with better play also. My other loss was to Scapeshift, and there really wasn't a lot I could have done about that one. I wanted to keep the sideboard mostly creatures since I'm playing chords of calling, but I may just have to bite the bullet and throw in some Thoughtseizes to help against Scapeshift and Storm.
