Rather than just mana producing dorks you can have mana filtering dorks especially with your deck producing so much green mana. Orochi Leafcaller although not an elf works really well for mana filtering or you have Nomadic Elf and Llanowar Envoy less efficient but in elf form.

You know I never thought of that, that might actually help. I will look into this.

Thanks for idea.

I know I have made multiple suggestions in a row, This is the last one. When using my version of the deck I use to find myself going infinite, then draw lots of cards and make everything giant until the end of turn... but then I would sometimes have to wait till the next turn to finish off the table.

Just by adding one card than enables you to kill everyone I found really helps due to the huge amount of draw provided by Selvala (when you can untap her). I started trying cards like Walking Ballista (had it from standard) where you can put inf mana in to win. However cards like that did nothing much till I went Inf.

I found just by adding Concordant Crossroads to the deck I could kill everyone that turn. The reason I picked that card rather than another is it is also very helpful before going infinite mana dorks tapping the turn they come in is great and aggro players wont kill you first because you are not only giving them cards (selvala) but you are also speeding them up.

Concordant Crossroads is one that I want to put in there. I just need the extra $20 for it. I don't mind if my opponents have hast. even early game, cuz once the deck goes off it's pretty much game over.

I have thought of placing Walking Ballista in there. and ya know I just might.

I will take all these and come up with something. you have given me much to think about. lol. thank you

I'm not seeing Magewright's Stone which is another way to untap Selvala. I must say though, it looks like a fun deck, albeit a bit different than how I would and had run the gal myself.

That is a great idea. And I think I have the perfect spot to switch that in for. thank you!

I’m surprised no one else pointed this out but unfortunately you can’t play blind obedience. It has a black mana symbol on it and your commander does not. Sorry.

Ah you made me have to second guess this. but. Though the full Comprehensive Rules entry for Extort does contain a Black mana symbol, having the Extort keyword ability doesn't add that symbol to a card's rules text (and reminder text never counts for color identity). The color identity of Blind Obedience is White.

Nice. I didn’t think of that. Play on.

I am surprised that a stax-combo deck like Selvala isn't running Carpet of Flowers or Root Maze. Similarly, Winter Orb is impressive in these decks.

I did take Winter Orb out. I find it slower than Static Orb and the effect from static orb to be more punishing. But it is just as punishing to me. hmm...

Just learned about Carpet of Flowers effects. and the fact that there are two main phases in your turn. that could be really good.

Root Maze... I'm on the fence about. I can see it's value early game. something I will have to consider.

Thanks again for your wisdom!

Static orb is really good, don't drop it, I'd rather them both. I play Selvala Stax, with Thorn of Amethyst and Glowrider on top of the effects you have, and even more, and play it in competitive circles from time to time. It is a a lot of fun. Up to you though.

I actually work at the local game and hobby store, so I know I can pick up Carpet of Flowers and Winter Orb, because of your earliest suggestion, I did get my hands on a copy of Glowrider.

though I have not seen a Thorn of Amethyst cross my path.

That is nice! You produce mana at a rate that allows you to pay for a lot of tax effects easily, while gaining turns on opponents often. Ravages of War does wonders, like Armageddon, but I got mine when it was cheap, so I would doubt you find one without it being super expensive or dang near impossible to find.

OUCH!!!! $200.00 grats on the card. don't think i'll be finding one of them. i'm thinking on replacing elf mom Marwyn, the Nurturer she seems a situational. if i get her out early she's not bat but late game. shes a 3 drop for a elf that taps for 1. I'm looking into other cards to put in her place.

SynergyBuild says... #16

Ooh, glad I got mine a while back. Marwyn makes a sick casual elf commander if you want to not play this deck against opposing new players, so I'd hold onto it.

sure thing... I know!!! really excited to see how crazy it gets when that card hits the field...

Oh also I got recommended Isochron Scepter the other day for my version of the deck, to duplicate low mana spells(mainly tutor and untap). I was sceptical and have not tried it, have you ever considered it? what were/are your thoughts on it? (I also think the guy who suggested it is just obsessed with the card)

February 7, 2019 9:10 a.m.

Kholek says... #22

I personally wouldn't put it in there. working with only 4 spells. The percentage is way to low to feel like I would get any value out of it.

I cant find your version of Selvala, it might be different for you. In this deck i'm looking to really win but turn 4-5 and or be in a position where victory is imminent.

February 7, 2019 9:30 a.m.

oh I have not uploaded it to tappedout hopefully will at some-point though. In mine it works with about 7 cards (3 untap(same as yours), 1 tutor(eldrami's call), 1 protection (heroic intervention)and 2 kill spells(swords to plowshares and path to exile) so really not many that work from it. I just wanted someone else's opinion before disregarding the suggestion.

February 7, 2019 10:22 a.m.

Kholek says... #24

I would say no. personally that's just not enough. If you have Isochron Scepter in your hand and nothing to play it with, its a dead card. being able to play any card in your hand at any given time and have something happen is what you really want to look for.

February 7, 2019 12:52 p.m.

Great thanks for the advice :) I also find Utopia Sprawl is a great addition, any two land hand with this allows selvala come in turn two (to a lesser extend Wild Growth but I can’t find a space for it)
