A conventional build of Leovold control. Definitely not my build (except for a few minor changes).

Key interactions:

Notable exclusions:

  • Forest - The deck needs a lot of colored mana, particularly blue and black so I want to minimalize the chance of multiple non-UB lands in the opening hand. There used to be a Forest but it was replaced by Boseiju, Who Endures because of it's utility and low opportunity cost. This makes Prismatic Vista a little worse and the deck can no longer fetch the Forest to fight a Blood Moon. However, the chance to win after a resolved Blood Moon was already extremely small.
  • Mana Confluence - This may seem to contradict the previous statement but the life loss is too high of a cost over the course of a longer game. This wouldn't be a problem in a slower meta but since most of the decks are some kind of aggro it's important to try to save as much life as possible. There are already two horizon lands (Nurturing Peatland and Waterlogged Grove).
  • Sylvan Library - For the same reasons as Mana Confluence. The card is a one mana more expensive Mirri's Guile against half of the field. But I am not sure so I plan to try it someday.
  • Pernicious Deed - Too slow agains aggro, do nothing against control.
  • Zendikar DFC lands (Bala Ged Recovery   and similar) - Comming into play tapped and providing only one color is too much of a cost.
  • Other Pathways / Filter lands - They don't seem important because I already use all the UB ones. So I didn't even try them. I might one day though.
  • Assassin's Trophy - The land is usually too much of a cost. The deck already contains a lot of universal removal.
  • Oubliette - Can't deal with planeswalker commanders (which are currently a huge part of the meta). It is also wery weak vs. commanders with ward (Raffine, Scheming Seer, Tivit, Seller of Secrets), another form of protection (General Ferrous Rokiric) or just a very strong ETB trigger.
  • Jace, Vryn's Prodigy   - Too often it happened to me that i had flipped Jace but there just weren't any good instants or sorceries worth casting again in the graveyard. So probably the best part was the looting itself, and there are much better alternatives.
