Used to be good until I took out a bunch of cards to maximize the chance of drawing a sliver (it used to be full of enchantments, sorceries and instants). Now, all of the sudden, it sucks and I need some help figuring out why. Now, keep in mind that I pulled this deck out recently, and a couple of cards (like, 3 cards max) are missing due to the fact that I've borrowed from it for other decks. That said, let me explain some of the other problems that I've been experiencing with the deck.
Problem A:I think one of the problems is that I have too much basic land, but balancing land in a five color deck has proven a challenge from the very beginning. Having lands that either 1) force me to spend life to search for a card and/or 2) come in tapped hinder my ability to get slivers out quickly, which has proven to be essential. Cards like tranguild promenade and (of course) Sliver Hive help with this, but not enough. I've been doing a little research, and have found cards like Cavern of Souls, but if there's one thing about special lands, it's that they are freaking expensive, and I'm no Trump. Help?
Problem B)The way that the deck works (ideally) is to build up all of the slivers' powers and abilities before casting something like
Flying Crane Technique
or Awe for the Guilds and blasting an insane amount of damage at once. Sliver Overlord and Liliana Vess allow me to search for the whichever sliver seems to be the most necessary at the moment (which is sometimes largely dependent on which lands I happen to have out at the moment), but the probability of drawing either one of these cards is slim. Any ideas on other cards or techniques that cater to this idea (that is, having control over choosing lands and/or creature cards from the library)?
Problem C:If anyone has a deck that's even remotely geared towards destroying target creatures, dealing damage to target creatures, and/or flying, I'm screwed. I know that Privileged Position works for the former of the two techniques, so I'm currently on the prowl for two of those, but that still leaves the problem with flying. I'm tempted to throw in a few Winged Sliver, but I feel like that still leaves me open to cards like Windstorm, and I simply can't take that risk. I've put a few cards that I think might work under the "aquireboard" section, but does anybody have any input on either which of these cards would work best and/or other cards that would work better?
Thanks for dealing with a newbie on tappedout (I just signed up tonight), and thanks for the input!
