I'm trying to make use of the synergies I've noticed between Constellation and Manifest. I always wanted to find a place for
Skybind
and I think something along these lines could work out well. Heavily synergistic in as many ways as possible, I think there might be a place in at least fnm for a marriage of these two block themes.
I have no idea if these various numbers look correct and there are probably multiple strong sideboard cards I completely overlooked, maybe even mainboard.
Reasoning behind the various cards:
Deck Focus:
Skybind
- The keystone of the deck, I want to be using it to flip massive threats like Ugin, the Spirit Dragon or Hornet Queen or to flip enchantments and trigger constellation again. Alongside being a utility engine, Skybind works on your opponents big threats or planeswalkers threatening to go ultimate.
Banishing Light - A standard deck always wants removal, this standard deck loves removal that's also an enchantment!
Courser of Kruphix - Already in every green standard deck, this card advantage engine and ramp card gets extra value in both constellation decks and manifest decks. This being both makes Courser seem even more insane than usual.
Whisperwood Elemental
andMastery of the Unseen - Almost required for a good Manifest deck, that's no different here. Mastery of the Unseen gets extra value with
Herald of the Pantheon
and constellation.
Gift of Immortality - Triggering constellation, saving a creature, and triggering constellation again seems like a fairly powerful effect for a 3 mana aura. This can also be used to "flip" manifested cards.
Herald of the Pantheon
- This deck has several enchantments at cmc of 4+ that it wants to get into play as soon as possible, namely
Skybind
and Eidolon of Blossoms.
Large "payload cards":
Ugin, the Spirit Dragon - Proven many times over in his ability to wipe boards and win games Ugin is always something you are happy to have, if you can get him into play. This deck gets around that by exiling him and bringing him back to play with full starting loyalty. He even plays well with any other manifested cards I've got!
Hornet Queen - Obviously 6 flying deathtouch power across 5 bodies is strong, but isn't often played in manifest due to not getting the tokens when flipped over. Since this deck is mostly on the flickering plan, she does her job here quite well.
Cards I just want to try a couple of:
Eidolon of Blossoms - The best friend of a deck planning on triggering constellation. I only have two here because a lot of my card advantage will be coming from manifest, but I still think that it will be good enough to warrant a few slots
Trail of Mystery
- Early-game mana ramp, late-game constellation triggers. These effects both seem worthwhile.
Sigil of the Empty Throne
- Should do some good work with all of the enchantments entering play.
Starfield of Nyx - I'm usually going to have an enchantment in my graveyard that I would be happy to recur. A bunch of these enchantments are also noncreature and would benefit from being able to attack. I think that Starfield will be a fun card and also strong enough to try out.
Frontier Siege
- Another enchantment that can be valuable for both of it's sides. Turning that flickered Hornet Queen into a boardwipe or giving you two Mastery of the Unseen manifests for the price of one are both viable options. I think this card does enough to try out.
Everything else is brought over from past manifest decks in small numbers to try out.
Suggestions are much appreciated! Happy brewing!
