While both are good, I already have an insane amount of 2 drops already. Another thing I've found is that I win most often by focusing on the etb damage. Purphoros with an impactor tremors out makes each token deal massive damage without ever having to attack.

Any time I deem a token build of mine to be successful I give it the title "Swarm and Conquer" in honor of my original token deck. 2.0 is b/w and this was made after 2.0, so it is 3.0

Would you consider making a selesnya token? I run selesnya and orzhov as my primary styles and I could use some help making a competitive modern selesnya deck (or abzan if you want to splash black).

Have you thought about Ajani Goldmane? I don't know how much he would really help you, but his -1 would be excellent with tokens. Ajani Steadfast's other two abilities are a bit better but it's a -2 instead. Just a thought.

Also may I ask why you chose to run Gather the Townsfolk mainboard as opposed to Timely Reinforcements?

Finally, +1!. I love the look of the deck and I'm going to try it out where I live. It looks like a lot of fun.

I've given some thought into making a selesnya token deck for fun. While I don't think that it has the potential to be competitive in modern in general, mainly because of combo decks, I think I could build one that could do well against decks like Abzan. Advent of the Wurm trades rather nicely with Siege Rhino and Tasigur, the Golden Fang. Elspeth, Knight-Errant is pretty much just better than Ajani is. If the tokens are removed through a board wipe, then all of your hard work is wasted. Plus only his -1 ability is useful, so he can be pretty easy to kill. And Gather the Townsfolk has a guaranteed 2 tokens, with a potential of 5. Timely Reinforcements most often won't even trigger for tokens because of how many we produce compared to other people. It could work in here though, considering I do run so many anthem 2 drops and Impact Tremors. I have it in the side for that reason. Overall I just like Gather the Townsfolk more though. And I don't think your upvote went through I'm afraid haha. But thanks! It is a ton of fun to play.

I just resent the +1 and it went through. Don't know what happened last time.

I'm building a selesnya heroic deck now. Would you be willing to take a look at it when I finish? It won't be great since I was never amazing at designing combos but I hope to have a solid base to work with

Well I appreciate you resending the upvote! And sure, just let me know when you think you're done and I'll point out anything I think would improve it.

Just a little note about that upvote button: The button itself doesn't actually work, only clicking the name "upvote" will actually send it.

Well that's weird. Do you know why it's doing that Femme? Thanks for the heads up.

Probably because the "a class" code that is making the button creates a button that is larger than the clickable field the "a href" code grants.

Trumpet Blast is a good pump spell Rally the Peasants is good too also Hordeling Outburst could work

This deck focuses mainly on etb damage, so things like Trumpet Blast and Rally the Peasants aren't necessary. I run Intangible Virtue to get that effect. Hordeling Outburst is outclassed by Spectral Procession and Lingering Souls unfortunately.

id say its better then Raise the Alarm and Gather the Townsfolk and i only suggested the pump spells because i saw you talking about it in the comments

You have to consider the curve though. Only so many cards can go into each spot on the curve for the deck to perform optimally. And ahh.

I just laughed because I realized how intensive my 2 cmc spot is. Still, I think that it's better as it is. Raise the Alarm gives me a potential turn two play that I can block at instant speed and so forth. Gather the Townsfolk is just fun. I've triggered fateful hour numerous times.

Having an intensive two spot is better than an intensive three spot. You can play 2 spells on turn 4 and/or turn 5.

xzzane says... #18

Yup. Plus being able to turn 4 Impact Tremors into Gather the Townsfolk with fateful hour can be so much fun.

I still think you have too much land. 22 is the most I would go with this. You could put in another Gather the Townsfolk since you love it so much.

But how do you activate so often when you got 3x Auriok Champions?

July 28, 2015 12:32 a.m.

xzzane says... #20

Surprisingly often. Auriok buys me time to develop a board presence, so I don't have to chump block as much. I will occasionally let just the right amount if damage get through to get fateful hour. My favorite trick is to go to 8 and fetch a shock untapped. And purphoros is so good in here that I like the extra land to better my chances of playing him on the curve.
