This seems like a pretty awesome deck.

What do you think of

Rally the Peasants andAssemble the Legion ?

Thanks, I'm glad you like it! And Rally the Peasants isn't as good because it's a 3 mana anthem, which while good for the surprise element, isn't what this deck needs to be doing. I focus on a comination of steady pressure with Intangible Virtue, which is all this deck needs in terms of anthems, and ETB effects with Impact Tremors and Purphoros, God of the Forge. Assemble the Legion is just too slow for modern unfortunately. Finally, if you like it, I wouldn't mind an upvote! :D

I'm trying to design a budget version of this deck. Other than changing out the lands (Arid Mesa,Godless Shrine,Marsh Flats,Rugged Prairie and Sacred Foundry) for cheaper ones, what could you replace Path to Exile, Engineered Explosives Hero of Bladehold and Fulminator Mage with?

My friend loves the concept and plays boros all the time (generally an aggro/heroic) but can't afford more expensive decks and i'd like to find a budget version of this for him.

Would this do? It's a hyper budget deck, so no paths, or major duals, etc.

Thanks xzzane that looks like a good place to start though I'll probably change it a bit since I prefer at least doing some of the design work myself instead of completely copying decks, and FAMOUSWATERMELON I'll look into using those. I'll get to work on it. Thanks for the help.

No problem! Glad to help. Famous gave some good suggestions as well, though I would recommend against Condemn for this style of build. Goes against the direct damage thing you know? The hyper budget build will have a very, very rough time against any sort of combo deck, but it should stand a chance at least against aggro or midrange.

I'm aiming for a max of ~$150 (semi-budget I guess) since he should have a number of the cards already and I can trade him some he needs so I can bring the total higher, but I still find it amusing that most people hear budget and think $20-$30, whereas your hyperbudget is almost $100

If you order the cards on tcgplayer and use the optimize cart then the actual price is more like 56 dollars. And you just can't build a halfway good deck for only 20-30 dollars in modern, even for a budget deck.

True. Sad, but true. Magic is getting more expensive by the day.

got that +1 from me =D just curious, if you were to make a budget land base for this what would you make? I really like this deck but don't have $300 for the mana =/

Archangel of Thune? Because what white weenie deck doesn't need an archangel or two... or three...

Doesn't really fit in this kind of deck. Thanks for the suggestion!

I don't really like sorcery speed removal, so that's why I didn't recommend Journey to Nowhere. And I originally had Lightning Helix, but found that the 2 cmc spot in the curve was just way too overfull, and I would be making turn 2 plays like Impact Tremors, and other spells in the lategame. Lightning Bolt does the job better as a spot removal card that I can play turn 1 to take out a mana dork or something, and is a lot easier on the curve. Deflecting Palm just didn't fit in that much, and the same for Boros Charm happened with Lightning Helix. I'm glad you like the deck!

Norin because it's a bad topdeck compared to everything else. Genesis Chamber because the 2 cmc is reserved for Impact Tremors.

What are your thoughts on Outnumber?

xzzane says... #20

I don't like cards that rely on a good field presence to be effective.

Jack-Frost says... #21

That's along the lines of what I was thinking. In a raise the alarm build that usually isn't a problem, but good point.

Why not idyllic tutor so you can find purphoros? Most of the games where he has entrees play I have won however when I don't draw him it's quite hard

November 5, 2015 11:16 p.m.

xzzane says... #23

That's 3 mana that could be used towards getting out a Spectral Procession. Purphoros isn't essential to the deck's success. Running expensive tutors like that would weaken it. Purphoros merely complements the deck; the deck can run perfectly fine without it.

Femme_Fatale says... #24

Tutors don't see play unless they are low cmc (Vintage), win you the game at instant speed the moment they resolve, (Chord of Calling) or your deck is too large and too inconsistent and the format slow enough for them not to be a bother (EDH/Highlander).
