running 4 nykthos and probably lots of mana available to you I would recommend Hooded Hydra .. more field presence can be a good thing is a deck where one at a time creatures are overrun easily

Maybe you could switch your Swordwise Centaur 's for Garruk's Companion 's?Same power/toughness/cost but with trample, which could be useful
September 15, 2014 7:21 a.m.
@Pindown135: It is unlikely he will make that switch since Garruk's Companion is too old to be legal in standard.

Genesis Hydra is a dead card in the deck.
You cant pull him with Chord of Calling and cant drop him with See the Unwritten .
I suggest 2 more copies of Hydra Broodmaster and Polukranos, World Eater . Or any other high cost bombs you feel like droping.
Swordwise Centaur is a poor devotion choice. Sylvan Caryatid is a much better card for the deck, and can produce the mana for Ob Nixis in a pinch.

It's too bad the snakes that Hooded Hydra make dont have deathtouch...
September 17, 2014 2:21 p.m.
Swordwise Centaur seems like a waste of 4 spots in your deck... 2 drops aren't very good when you have your Elvish Mystic . (Except for Voyaging Satyr )

Red splash for Crater's Claws and Xenagos, The Reveler would be better than the black splash. You should also find space for Savage Punch mainboard, I think. If you're committed to the Ob Nixilis, Unshackled then you should run 4 Temple of Malady and your Rattleclaw Mystic should be Sylvan Caryatid . You may want to look at 2 Llanowar Wastes as well.

I would suggest looking at my Green spalsh Black devotion 2.0 deck- I think with only 2 black sources your going to struggle to cast ob nyixilis as well I'd also not sure sword wise centaur, your 4 drops should provide more that enough devotion

So, for removal's sake please run Setessian tactics. It is and instant for 1 colorless and 1 green and strive 1 green, fight and your creature gets +1/+1 until end of turn.
September 22, 2014 7:02 p.m.
Savage Punch is also worth considering. It won't create the same blowouts that Setessan Tactics will but it doesn't also take a whole turn to use because you don't have to tap your creature(s).

Theres far too much removal in standard for Hydra Broodmaster to be any good. Polukranos, World Eater is where its at.

I like the idea of ob nixilis as an anti fetch land tool, he may not be perfect for this deck but i still love it too much, maybe instead of only the GB temple also an Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth might do you well

Do you really need 10 mana dorks? Nissa's gonna help you ramp. 4x Courser's are gonna give you extra land drops and Nykthos will help you ramp as well. You don't want to be drawing a bunch of mana dorks mid-late game. I think you should drop 2 and add 2 Archetype of Endurance . Then hopefully you can chord or draw 1 by turn 5 or 6 and then you'll have something to cast Hunter's Prowess on so it's not wasted by a removal spell.

Awesome deck! This is what I'm play testing against with decks I can actually afford. :) What about Sylvan Caryatid ? Usually blocks the cheap agrros faily well. +1
September 23, 2014 10:49 p.m.
Solid deck, i like most of the choices and numbers on most of the deck. But what will lose games is you don't run enough lands, 23 even with all the mana dorks will lose you some frustrating games. The frustration of having too much mana and dorks in a ramp deck is having a ton of mana and nothing to play. Well you have a ton of spells that will help with that. Right now you are going to have some explosive games, but more games where you stumble and your opponent tempo's you out big time. My suggestion would be to go to 24 lands and add 2 to 4 more dorks.
i think See the Unwritten is a "trap", and is why you have so many expensive spells. i think you have too many high-costed spells because of it, and the condition of spending 6 mana to cast it, on top of having to have a big fatty out already and no guarantee you'll land a fatty... It's really not good, when most of the time you have you'll be wishing you could just Chord of Calling a Reclamation Sage and remove your opponents Courser of Kruphix so you can swing for lethal. But instead you don't have enough mana and Colossus of Akros sitting dead in your hand...

Why are there temples in this deck still I do not see any cards requiring black mana?
