Hey there! Wallet failing to keep up with your hobbies? Looking for a competitive, yet affordable deck? Well, here you have it. I present to you, G/R Pummeler! (otherwise known as G/R Aggro, G/R Energy, etc.)I call it G/R Pummeler, because my favourite card in the deck is Pummeler. He is just so good. Ive swung in for a total record of nine hundred and something once. He can just get so high, it is unbelievable. And before I get right into it, I would like to pay my respects to who was the original creator of this deck, however I got up and tweaked his edition a bit. I put in a few Bomat Couriers and an Arlinn Kord  . I have less buff spells than him, however. But the core of the deck is essentially the same. Anyway, lets get started with the creatures. First up is Electrostatic Pummeler.

This guy is just unbelievable. A 3 mana 1/1 just doesnt seem promising at first, even if you get 3 energy off of it. But its the ability at the bottom of the card which just blows my mind. Pay 3 E: Electrostatic Pummeler gets +X/+X until end of turn, where X is its power. What? This is just crazy. Imagine playing a Blossoming Defense, a Uncaged Fury and a Built to Smash on it, with 6 Energy (this is completely doable, nearly every single game in this deck, trust me). That means, if you use all the energy, the Pummeler will be a 28/28 double strike, hexproof, trampler. And thats the game. You wouldnt even need to spend all 6 of that energy. A 14/14 hexproof trampler with d-strike will be lethal against most decks. We then have Bristling Hydra. The other bomb of this deck. This guy is really good against control matchups, and with a bit of energy, it can pretty much dodge anything they throw at it ( Radiant Flames , Grasp of Darkness, etc.) This guy is also the other reason I did a 7:5 basic forest/mountain ratio, him costing double green.

Im gonna go over Voltaic Brawler and Longtusk Cub in the same paragraph, because I feel that Longtusk Cub is pretty much a 5th Voltaic Brawler. These guys are just maximum aggressive. A 4/3 trampler for 2? Yes please! A lot of people underestimate the cub, preferring to take out the Pumeler, or the Brawler, etc. But one game, I had gained a total of 8 energy from the cub. Thats before he realised how much E I was getting. The only problem I have with the Brawler is that sometimes (and only sometimes) it is difficult to get those two colours. And that takes us to the next creature.

Servant of the Conduit is just an all-round boss. Turn 3 Arlinn? Yes please! It can also help you get that pesky second green for Bristling Hydra, or it can get down a Voltaic Brawler.

Last of all, we have Bomat Courier. This guy is the odd one out. The only guy here that doesnt get you energy. But instead, it gets you cards. The card advantage on this guy is just amazing. By turn 4-5 max your hand will probably be emptied. That means you will get about 4-5 cards without discarding any, if you drop this robotic santas minion.

Now, we are on to the (non-creature) spells. I will start off with the buff cards.First of all, and my favourite buff card (in this deck) is Built to Smash. The artwork just pulls me in, I dunno. But +3/+3 is pretty good, trample is even better.

Next up we have blossoming defense. Arguably the best pump spell in standard. One green for a +2/+2 is very good, but giving it hexproof is even better. If you arnet running green, and you are worried about spells constantly targeting you bomb (in this case, Electrostatic Pummeler.

The next one we have is Uncaged Fury. I really like the double strike it gives. There. The End.We then have Harnessed Lightning. This is by far the best removal you can get in an energy deck. A singleton Arlinn Kord   rounds off the deck. Arlinn is just an amazing all-rounder in aggressive decks. Nothing else needs to be said.

The mana-base is pretty simple. All the usual: Game Trail, Aether Hub, and Cinder Glade . 7 Forests and 5 Mountains. Not much here.Info about the board and how to side coming soon along with what decks this performs well against and vice-versa!

Game Day Results:I know its a bit late for this, but..BTW this was my second game day ever, and Im pretty happy with my results. Ive been playing since the beginning of SOI FYI.

1st Match: 2-0 against R/B Aggro. Guy got a pretty bad mana screw. I pummelled him with the Pummeler for lethal T4. Game 2 I eventually just overloaded the board with creatures, and he had much too many Smuggler's Copters.

Match 2: 0-2 against U/W Flash. What can I say? This deck is very bad against U/W Flash, Mausoleum Wanderer countering every single bloody pump I cast. Every one of his creatures just flew over me. Game 2 I drew none of my sideboard cards.

Match 3: 2-0 against R/W Vehicles. No offense to the guy that played this deck, but it was the worst one I saw at the game day. Pretty much a deck I reckon he put together from a Kaladesh bundle or something.Match 4: 1-2 against Jeskai Control. First and Last games I didnt get a good mana curve. At the end of game 3, he ulted Chandra, Torch of Defiance, and I had no creatures on the battlefield but a single Voltaic Brawler, and I had 3 Forests and a Blossoming Defense in my hand. The one game I did win, he didnt draw any Radiant Flames and I just had too many creatures for him.

I ended up getting 8th place, but the store closed at 5 and there was about an hour left so there wasnt enough time for a top 8, only a top 4 which I was sad about.
