Thought about having those in the sideboard for extra hilarity, but I like the deck being mono black.

this is a really fun deck I have play tested it 10 or more times the only decks that could counter this is probably esper control and spirit tempo (due to just tapping down your tree every turn). I'm thinking of going to an fnm with this, seems exciting.

I havent had a chance to take it to FNM yet, but the few standard games I've played were just hilarious. The only bad matches I've had so far are straight burn and control decks that run more spells that creatures.

Might want to get some sort of card advantage in here such as Read the Bones. This deck seems like it will struggle if it doesn't draw perfectly or if it runs into spot removal from your opponent. Consider running more creatures (mono-B zombies seems like a good shell), ways to recur your tree (Corpse Churn maybe?), ways to protect your tree from spot removal (Dark Dabbling maybe?), or ways to give your tree haste (Haunted Cloak maybe?)to make the combo more reliable.

Overall I don't necessarily like the options in black to shore up for the weaknesses of this deck except for a zombie tribal build, but even that may struggle against Reflector Mage and Spell Queller which run rampant in this format. I would consider adding blue to generate card advantage, give a strong tribal base, and add protection for your combo in the form of counterspells.

I would love this form of critique on my own deck (Mono-Black Standard Value) if you have the time, but I think there is a great idea here +1

I kinda dismissed Read the Bones since I was just trying to get every kill spell I could in here, but you're right I do need card draw.

And my original plan was, if tree or trisk got destroyed/exiled/ was to simply laugh while Infinite Obliteration seeks out their good creatures and then just keep going until they deck out.

Last Friday was my first FNM with it and it went 3-0 against 2 G/W tokens decks and a B/W control deck (this the hardest matchup), I'll see how it does next Friday to see where else I can improve, but for now it seems to be doing well with just the 4 trees as creatures.

Fun for sure, but a few issues:

  1. Need a backup kill condition if you can't assemble the combo pieces in time or an overly frisky dromoka's command draw.

  2. No card draw or card filtering makes it more likely that answers will be insufficient against threats vs threat dense meta (e.g. Bant Company).

  3. Maybe Dark Petition to tutor for combo pieces? You will likely have spell mastery anyway.

There would be more reasons to hate you if you had White cards to Exile stuff.

Decks with a lot of recursion don't really hate you at all.

Also Burn decks can take their own life points to escape from Triskaidekaphobia.

Just saying.

I know. This honestly isn't that competitive of a deck, it started as a joke and somehow developed into a deck. The fact that I went 3-0 at FNM was lucky.

Main deck Reave Soul? That would be a 14th reason, but I would not want to break the 13 reason cap

Cool deck

Reave Soul is hilarious, no one ever expects it and it actually does a lot of work.

So if you use Ruthless Disposal and either Borrowed Malevolence or Strange Augmentation, you can get them down to 1 life, and then have any number of drain cards to finish them off lol. I have a friend who wants to build a deck with both these win conditions available (plus a couple more, but I won't ruin all the secrets lol). Both require the tree though, so something like Sidisi, Undead Vizier could get you the tree when you need it. Maybe replace some of your stuff with small deathtouchers to slow them down on the attack and then use them for exploit fodder for sidisi and the ruthless disposal.

So i saw this and really liked it. I tried rebuilding it as a 3 color deck. I used white for exile, blue for Thing in the Ice  Flip and counters to protect the combo and of course black. I'd run languish instead of titi, but it cycles out soon and costs 6 dollars. Titi creates a threat that can wipe their board and pulls their focus. I dont think my deck works well yet, but maybe there are some ideas? I was trying to make it counter the stuff i've been seeing at FNM. I like your deck :) Kat's tree phobia

Pain lands like Shivan Reef make this deck fall flat on it's face. It's worth diversifying.

I have seriously never seen anyone use the painlands since BFZ came out.

Have you considered any discard/exile spells in your sideboard, like Duress, Pick the Brain or Transgress the Mind

G/w tokens lost to this deck???? How they have dramokas fucking command. Whoever was the pilot of tokens wtf were you doing?

August 2, 2016 7:15 p.m.

Eviscerator14 says... #23

@FatherLiar

I considered Pick the Brain since when Delirium is triggered it acts as a good substitute for Infinite Obliteration. When Obliteration rotates I'll likely replace it with this card, and try to make my deck easier to get Delirium to trigger.

@Chronix

Dromoka's Command does very little when they have no creatures to target. And the tokens die as soon as they hit the ground with Virulent Plague on the field.

August 2, 2016 8:18 p.m.

Chronix says... #24

Make you sac an enchantment takes away your win con or atleast virulent plagie allowing them to get tokens going again.

August 2, 2016 8:35 p.m.

Eviscerator14 says... #25

Dromoka's Command has to have two targets, most of the time he only had one. He could not prevent damage since none was being dealt, there were no creatures (at the time) to fight and until I put down a Tree of Perdition he had no target to put a +1/+1 counter on. So by the time I did have tree on the field, I had two Virulent Plague's, a Sinister Concoction and Triskaidekaphobia, having me sacrifice an enchantment would have done very little.
