Here is the theory behind this deck: I haven't been playing modern after doing fairly well with an Izzet Midrange. But I get bored and bounce around. Most everything I play is control, while the builder of this deck generally play more aggressive and/or tribal decks (Slivers, Elves, etc.). I wanted to play a more aggressive deck that most of my LGS wouldn't see coming from me. So this is a midrange-y deck that combines the vampire/counter theme with some burn. Kind of half Boss Sligh and Half Burn. Also, there is some budget involved.
