This is a very fast and efficient deck, that being said the mana base needs work, not being able to cast a Tainted Strike due to basic lands is an issue. Blackcleave Cliffs are a good fast start for this deck, besides that you can always get some Blood Crypt . Rouse the Mob could be a stronger card in that spot, but I like the idea of the deck and it makes great use of Moltensteel Dragon

This deck looks fun! +1 for the Smaug reference :)

tchau204 Thanks for the +1. And iceiceiceMTG thanks for the input! At first I'm just making this extremely budgety and once I see how it works, I will throw more dual lands in. Do you have any suggestions instead of Rouse the Mob ? I had that in there because it is a 1 drop instant to push game winning damage through a possible blocker.

All your creatures are red, so why not permanently boost them with Hall of Triumph ?

Another suggestion would be Dragon Mantle or, for Moltensteel Dragon , Crucible of Fire . You could run two each of those so you get the benefits for your dragon and non-dragon creatures alike. The nice thing about Dragon Mantle is card-draw.

If you're looking for an instant, maybe Titan's Strength , but unlike Rouse the Mob it doesn't give trample or affect all creatures (given you have the mana).

buildingadeck Thanks for the suggestions. I think right now Dragon Mantle is my best bet because it fits my mana curve and makes all creatures like Moltensteel and Souleater. I was also planning on adding extra creatures so that will come in handy. As for the other cards, I just think they may be a little slow just for the fact that Moltensteel dragon will win the game in between turn 3 and 4 but the cards do help late game. I will definetely consider them.

Frankly, I think there are a lot better builds for the same or less $$.

kamarupa take out the Blackcleave Cliffs and it's 30 dollars cheaper. I just used those lands because I had them.

I also might consider some lifegain in here given the expense you'll be paying for your dragons. Maybe Child of Night ? Your creature count is rather low is why I recommend that over Eternal Thirst .

buildingadeck I really agree with that idea, I'm just having a hard time deciding because something like Children of Korlis would be a game ender because I could pay life, gin it back and then pay life once again. The only problem being that it's a one mana cost white spell. Something like Child of Night just seems to slow and I want to find a way to be able to gain life not for safety but for more ammunition.

That makes sense. What about something like Staff of the Flame Magus ? There's another similar card, but I can't recall it's name right now.

The better version of the card is Dragon's Claw .

Of all the uses I've seen for Generator Servant I think Moltensteel Dragon is by far the coolest!

APPLE01DOJ Thanks man! I really thought he was a great ramp for such a powerful, game-ending creature early game.

Love this! Have you thought about Hammerhand from M15? Another source of haste plus a buff and evasion?

Interesting budget build Moltensteel Dragon seems good, even passes the Lightning Bolt test. +1

you might want to mainboard more Duress to protect your combo from removal, especially since you tend to not do much on your turn 1.

jchudz thanks for the suggestion. I switched in 2 for 2 Phyresis because it is really slow for this deck.

.... you would have to have a near perfect hand AND pay 16 life (have to have taken NO MORE than 3 damage in your opponent's first 2-3 turns) AND not be blocked in order to pull off this turn 3 win...

That's got a chance so slim that I don't see it happening more than 1% of the time (just a wild guess, not too much number crunching)...

HOWEVER: how fun this looks and a $35 price tag is REALLY hard to argue with lol. +1

how about Fist of the Demigod instead gets +1/+1 counters AND infect

decadently linked a deck instead of card.

Kjartan says... #24

smeues-Fists of the Demigod doesn't really do anything in this deck. It's a small pump, first strike only matters if you are blocking here, since you are trying to win on the first attack. And it does literally nothing for the souleater.

As far as putting in Children of Korlis, it's a very useful card for you, but I'm not sure that the splash is worth it (unless you have money for a manabase).

Marsh Flats, Bloodstained Mire, and Arid Mesa can fix you for the colors you need. I'd probably run 4x Mire because it's cheaper, and your primary colors are R/B. You might run some number of the others in order to maximize fixing.

Godless Shrine, Sacred Foundry, and Blood Crypt. In my 3 color decks, I prefer to just run 1 of each on color shock, so that whatever situation I am in, I can fetch a land for that situation.
