Lazerpig21 I have considered it but it doesn't feel like it fits right. The only time I'd use it if the Immolating Souleater or Moltensteel Dragon combo doesn't work. I feel like Death's Shadow is too situational and only used as a backup.

Nice man, i'd definitely throw Gut Shot in the side board, and possibly Leyline of Punishment in the sideboard for the 0 drop cant gain life in addition to Skullcrack if you need the burn. Terminate is always a good option aswell.

What land could I replace Blackcleave Cliffs With I was thinking Blood Crypt or maybe even Temple of Malice ?

@Merc I'd suggest either Reflecting Pool or Sulfurous Springs. Temple of Malice is a little slow and Blood Crypt makes it really hard for a turn 3 win since springs can tap for only 1 damage it still leaves room for a turn 3. It really depends on whether you plan on consistent early wins.

I bought this deck (without blackcleave cliffs). It is super awesome!!!!!! It kicks everyone's butts and a few people hate me

bjsghebd thanks for the feedback! It's great that it is serving you well!

I thought about an interesting combo with Fling and Angel's Grace I don't know how it would work though.

bjsghebd I'm guessing the combo would be pumping souleater up then fling when it's lethal? The only problem is that damage can't lower your health and paying life does. Plus you can't pay negative life.

I understand Duress should help against counterspells or Disentomb should help bring back what got countered, but is there any other way to survive against counterspells because at my shop many people run control and get multiple counterspells that Duress can only take care of so much
April 24, 2016 3:07 p.m.
Videopenguin - And Duress gives you kwowledge of your opponent's hand, whilst Disentomb will be a better topdeck later on.
However, the reason why it's important to run a card like Duress is that it interacts with your opponent. It's a control card.
Disentomb only does something if your opponent has done something to your cards first. It's a reactive, non-control card, which can be dangerous to play with.
In won't save from your opponent's burn spells, or from their infinite combo.

I'm looking at making something similar to this except less budget using Goblin Guide, Monastery Swiftspear and Simian Spirit Guide to try and push the turn two win more but yours is far more interesting I like what you've done on a budget here nice work.

Thanks for the tips, btw i know you say this is a budget deck, but what would change this to be a non budget deck other than Simian Spirit Guide? While still maintaining the phyrexian mechanics?

Inquisition of Kozilek/Thoughtseize
Blood Crypt/Bloodstained Mire is what I can think off on the top of my head.

@Kjartan: this deck does NOT want lands that lower the life total. The point of the deck is to get to 2 life (exactly) in a voltron-alpha swing. Turn 1 Blood Crypt nixes that completely and the mire doesn't help. However: you might wish to consider running Flame Slash > Lightning Bolt. I say this because only Lightning Bolt + Master of Cruelties is a combo, as the other 2 creatures all =20 damage. And while Lightning Bolt is an instant and f.s. is a sorcery, there are a minimal % of instances where that is actually a big deal / applicable towards the gamestate.

This deck... holy hell yes. First off it turn 3's fairly consistently. Second off it has a back up for almost everything. I am not easily impressed, but I literally can't up-vote this deck hard enough. Well done my friend, you earned it.

Some strong sideboard suggestions would be along the lines of what others have suggested, as it would definitely struggle against life gain or decks that prevent damage. Leyline of Punishment would be a solid counter for that. Cheaper (mana-wise), slower (can't start the game with it) route would be Everlasting Torment for a permanent effect. Otherwise, a cheap CMC spell would work to push the damage through that turn, like Skullcrack or Wild Slash.
Guttural Response would help with counterspells some, but for as much as I love the flavor of the card, I've always found it too restrictive to be very effective. Anyone else have the same feeling?Or disagree and find it useful?
Only other thing I could think of at the moment would be siding for pesky token removal, which dominates my casual group's meta, with cheap cards like Pyroclasm. The spirit guide would definitely be well worth the money investment though, it would push consistent early wins through, imo.
Great deck though, man! I love the concept and the execution. I think I'm going to try running it at my dinner table and see how many friends I enrage. :)

miracleHat Your'e right with the land choice. I think Blackcleave Cliffs is the best choice for this deck. Also I really love the idea of Flame Slash. I have realized that I used bolt rarely to do damage and instead use it for getting rid of creatures so that there are no blockers. Also the combo with the master and bolt can be easily changed to a Fling or Rite of Consumption. Considering I'll have at least 3 lands by the time master attacks, the difference between bolt and fling is very minimal. I like the suggestion! Thanks!

Hexcimal Thanks for all the input. I really like Guttural Response as a sideboard card. I've been testing this deck a lot and I'm just helpless against control that have cards like Mana Leak. Thanks for the help and have fun with the deck!

It doesn't want to go to less than 4* life. you can t1 blood crypt.

Kjartan that's only considering the dragon. Immolating Souleater is much more consistent early and requires I lose less than two, unless I use two separate combos (double strike and infect).
April 28, 2016 12:01 p.m.
Foreboding Ruins might make a decent budget sub for Blackcleave Cliffs as they don't shock or ping for the mana and it's a fairly safe bet you'll have another land in your hand. A thought at least?

Hexcimal I like the idea. Definitely good for those looking to go more budget and really just as good as blackcleave.
