Please leave suggestions if you have any. I'm very open to changes and I consider myself rather new to Magic: The Gathering !

Why do you have Windswept Heath and Temple of Plenty in the sideboard?

Oops meant to put it in the Acquire board! Thanks for noticing :)

Hardened Scales could be something to look into. I also thing 4 Mighty Leap would be best. Flying is a really good way to get damage through in most matchups.

I don't know if I'd focus on renown so much as just some sweet +1/+1 counter action for a budget deck in this vein...A deck like this can be blisteringly fast if given the proper tools.Things like Honored Hierarch, Anafenza, Kin-Tree Spirit, Servant of the Scale, and Avatar of the Resolute are excellent early creatures, and those with Hardened Scales will send opponents reeling fast. Later on, you can clean up with Citadel Siege (an upgrade for Grasp of the Hieromancer, Patron of the Valiant, and Dromoka) and Abzan Falconer (upgrading Mighty Leap). I also really, really like Feat of Resistance in here (upgrades to Mighty Leap, Grasp, and Enshrouding Mist), as it deals in +1/+1 counters and can play defense really well after you've spent time and effort building up your beasties. Valorous Stance and/or Suspension Field might also be something to look into, especially if your local meta really likes it's big creature decks.

For non-budget upgrades, try Hangarback Walker, Windswept Heath, and Ajani, Mentor of Heroes

The one things that you lack is protection. Gods Willing is a great cheap card that can be used. I would recommend taking out the Mighty Leaps. If you have a bigger budget I would immediately include Hangarback Walker as counters is a definite theme here and the value would be great. I would take out the Patron of the Valiant and two other cards. Hopefully this helped and thanks for the support on my deck.

I would recommend Den Protector and Deathmist Raptor as well as Collected Company. They aren't budget, but if you want this deck to dominate, I think it needs to put enough pressure in the early game to win.

Great deck! I love that you love Bant and have built your first deck around that idea! +1 of course. Renown is a great mechanic; so you can definitely build a powerful deck even on a budget. I can imagine that many people would love to play this deck!

Thank you a lot CurdBrosBrewingCo

I will make sure to tweak it as much as possible and can't wait for the release of Battle for Zendikar, bringing some new potential to this deck :)

I feel like you're a bit light on creatures. Whenever I playtest, I always feel like I should be dropping more creatures faster to make use of the instants. I don't really have recommendations on the creatures specifically to add since I'm not very in touch with Magic: Origins, however.

Mmmh. You mean I need to add more 1-2 mana drops ? Let me see...I could perhaps consider Akroan Jailer, maybe add 1 more Consul's Lieutenant.

Maybe I could remove some bits and pieces and add my planeswalker Kytheon, Hero of Akros  Flip as it fills out the role of small drops AND it can transform into a big tank later in the game.

Maybe Relic Seeker too along with some Knight of the White Orchid.

I've been working on a Renown deck myself.

I agree with Hardened Scales. It's not very expensive and makes renown Creatures grow so fast.

Someone suggested Rogue's Passage for my deck, and it made a lot of difference. You can get damage through much easier.

For removal you can't go past Valorous Stance and Devouring Light can help as well.

Ruthless Instincts could be something to look into as it gives trample as well as a pump. It's also pretty versatile.

I'm going to my LGS tomorrow (or actually today since it's 1 am now). Gonna pick up all those suggested cards and brew something awesome for you guys (to be honest, mostly tweaking, adjusting, removing/adding cards and plainly testing it).

Looking forward to share with you guys the results! Stay tuned.

I've actually changed my mind about Hardened Scales since someone pointed out to me that it's likely to just get removed.

I'd go with combat tricks that can give your Creatures Trample instead.

Here are useful Trample Instants I found.

Tread Upon
Awaken the Bear
Ruthless Instincts
Press the Advantage

While playing against several different decks, I've noticed they often lack removal spells for enchantments. Grasp of the Hieromancer and Hardened Scales are, in my opinion, a must in this kind of deck where you need to get your creatures through the defense.

Also, thank you Argeaux for helping out. I'll look into the cards you suggested and get back to you! Trample + Renown seems like a pretty sweet tactic. I'll test it out at my LGS.

@alephezmtg, were your wins consistent (your 2-2) or was it luck/top deck draws ? Your deck is interesting. Keep me updated!

Also, HipsterPumpkin, I've taken in consideration your suggestions. I'll look into it !

Argy says... #21

Yes, people don't put Enchantment removal in their Mainboard.

Most people Sideboard it, though.

Since I took Hardened Scales out and put Awaken the Bear into my Renown deck it's come alive.

It's a very nice way to end a match with Trample, too.

I'm not gonna badger you about it. Let me know how FNM goes.

I added Awaken the Bear and completed my sideboard, which consist solely on specific removal spells. Also tweaked the deck a little and added 2x Temple of Plenty, 3x Kytheon's Irregulars, 2x Kytheon, Hero of Akros  Flip and other tweaks.

August 18, 2015 3:10 a.m.

Argy says... #23

It sounds good.

How's Kytheon, Hero of Akros  Flip working for you?

August 18, 2015 2:25 p.m.

Zesk says... #24

Your renown deck seems pretty solid and playable, and how does Kytheon, Hero of the bank of Akros fit in your deck? #ChandraIgnition #EnthrallingVictor #Intro #kappa

GoldParadox says... #25

Don't mind Zesk lol.

He's decent. I won't say he's a game-changer but he's pretty good for his cost. 1 white mana for a 2/1 is solid and when he flips he's a TANK :)
