Great suggestion, but yes the pauper format my friends and I play is unfortunately the strict version that if you are using cards they must explicitly be commons in their most recent printing.
It would be pretty awesome though, definitely a staple of mono-green infect.

No problem man, I figured that you'd have used Rancor otherwise. The thing I love most about restrictive formats is that they encourage you to make use of the cards that don't often get enough love in MTG. Tends to create new and exciting decks, and it definitely makes for memorable games.

What cards do you think that could be in the sideboard? I can only think in Rancor , but not that I think it's necessary, it's a super fast deck that don't think that the opponent would make a move before losing.

Phytoburst if you think an extra +1/+1 is worth downgrading to sorcery speed. I, personally do not, but you might know something I don't.

What about using Invigorate instead of Predator's Strike ? It's normally used for free, because you don't care about how many lives has the other player, only the poison counters...

@Dinkusmalinkus: Great suggestion, but at sorcery speed I feel that it might be less advantageous than the instant speed buffing spells, since it could be chump blocked.
@erik19borgnia: Great suggestion and I completely agree Invigorate is extremely strong in green infect decks but unfortunately that card is banned in the Pauper format.

@BMpatrol: Really? :O Didn't know that! Damn, I was making this deck with that card xD Seem's like I have to use Predator's Strike instead xD. Thanks :)

@Abubroki: Haha that was the one card I had to leave out after all the playtesting. It was very hard parting with Apostle's Blessing because it makes the creatures "unblockable" and protects them from spells. What I found in my playtesting however was that it was more worthwhile to find pump spells than Apostle's Blessing , and for that I stuck with cards that gave pump and trample (Predator's Strike , Llanowar Augur ) and for protection from removal the Vines of Vastwood proved good because it also gave stats along with it.
But yes, I was considering that card for a long time so good suggestion.

Hey, anytime. I have no Pauper Infect experience yet, but in my Modern monogreen Infect I am happy with 4 Apostle's and 4 Vines, ie 4 pump spells less and 4 more protection spells; so it is very interesting you are successfully packing more pump spells... maybe Pauper does not have as much removal maindeck as Modern?
November 4, 2014 1:21 p.m.
@Abubroki: You're right, for early game removal there are quite a few for Black at least (Doom Blade, Victim of Night, Bone Splinters, Disembowel, Executioner's Capsule, Vendetta) and some for White (Smite, Puncturing Light, Reprisal, Last Breath).
However when looking at these cards you can see that most all of them have drawbacks that would make them only really viable in hard control decks, save for Doom Blade, Victim of Night, and Smite.
This is all at least in my experience. Usually the biggest problems are cards like Lightning Bolt so having pump protects against that.

Understood; thanks. Well noted if I decide to go Pauper with my Infect deck...

I used this list as a starting point for a paper pauper league in my LGS. Switched out Llanowar Augurs for Rancor and Mutagenic Growth for Invigorate. Works insanely well.

@Dinkusmalinkus: Just letting you know, Invigorate is officially banned in the pauper format.

There's no official ban list for paper pauper yet and my LGS doesn't have one so until then ...

In my opinion Rot Wolf is too slow, i'd replace it with apostles blessing

You should try Phytoburst instead of Titanic Growth. It's better all around.
February 14, 2015 2:19 p.m.
@Archetype_Of_Awesomeness: Thanks for the comment! In my opinion, Phytoburst is good but its not at instant speed, and I've had more success playing with instant speed spells.
February 16, 2015 3:09 a.m.
I would try Become Immense as a 1-of or 2-of instead of either Titanic Growth or Phytoburst...
February 16, 2015 4:49 a.m.
TopNotchBassin says... #24
That would be okay, but Become Immense is uncommon. I think you should just stay with titanic growth and maybe add 2 Phytoburst and take out two Rot Wolf because they don't seem to be used in any of your combos. Sure they have infect and have an ability, but I would personally prefer to have a creature like that, but with five +1/+1 counters.
February 16, 2015 9:44 a.m.
@TopNotchBassin, Archetype_Of_Awesomeness: You make a good point, Rot Wolf usually becomes a dead card because if a Glistener Elf or Blight Mamba are pulled I'll be playing those and spending mana to pump them rather than play that Rot Wolf. I'll take you guys' advice and put in 2x Phytoburst, thanks for the suggestions!

I'm not sure if your Pauper/Modern format has different rules, but many Pauper players consider a card to be legal as long as it's appeared at common rarity in at least one set. If this is the case for you, then you may want to consider switching out your Llanowar Augur cards for two or three Rancor .
Rancor is used at sorcery-speed like the Augur, but is harder to remove and returns to your hand every time one of your infect creatures goes on a suicide mission. In fact, an entire playset might be worth your while if you'd like to cut back on pump spells in favour of more infect creatures.
In any case, good work on this deck. It looks explosive.
