Pioneer WG Investigate
Selesnya Thraben Inspector + Bygone Bishop = Confront the Unknown

Trigger Bygone Bishop, get Clues, cast Confront the Unknown. That's the plan anyway, this deck has gone through several versions already, and I'm always willing to consider suggestions or advice.

  • Start with Thraben Inspector, of course. Start generating Clues right away.
  • Elvish Visionary is just here to draw an extra card and trigger Bygone Bishop, so I feel there could be a better option in this slot, but for now this is what I'm using.
  • Faerie Guidemother is a flyer, yes, but more importantly, it's also a sorcery that can give anything else flying. You can make a big Tireless Tracker jump over your opponent's blocker's, or any creature if you just want to trigger Warriors' Lesson. Finally, you can wait until Bygone Bishop is out, and then cast it from Adventure Time to make sure you get that Clue trigger.
  • Speaking of, Tireless Tracker is the main ground creature. It generates Clues upon landfall, and gets bigger each time you sack a Clue (including when you sack 3 at a time for Tamiyo's Journal). You can give it flying, or you can tap down potential blockers to get it through.
  • Bygone Bishop is the main focus of the deck. Cast it, then cast other creatures in order to generate Clues. Not very complicated, but pretty important.
  • Expose Evil is a decent way to tap down your opponent's two most unwanted attackers/blockers, and it also generates a Clue. Use this card to "Fog" your opponent, or sneak one of your own attackers through to set up a Warriors' Lesson or a Confront the Unknown.
  • You've probably realized by now that Confront the Unknown is the "wincon" here. A lot of the time you can chip away at your opponent early-game, then swing out and cast Confront the Unknown on any creature that wasn't blocked. (The backup wincon would be a big, flying Tireless Tracker.)
  • Tamiyo's Journal is included for fun. When the hell else will I ever get to play this card? It generates Clues and tutors any card I want, but it costs and requires 3 Clues to sack, therefore I only included 2. Most of the time this card does not get in the way.
  • Gods Willing and Warriors' Lesson are my "draw package." Gods Willing is really here to protect my stuff, but it also is another way to force an attacker through. Plus the scry 1 is nice. Warriors' Lesson requires a bit of support to work, but two cards for a single sounds too good to pass up, so I'm trying it out. With all the evasion this deck could generate, I feel like it's worth it.
