This deck is basically meant to be a mono-red graveyard-based recursion deck, as opposed to an artifact "tribal" deck. Most of the cards in the deck can be recurred in some way or another, not just the artifacts. And a number of them are useful out of the graveyard (such as Drownyard Temple and Runehorn Hellkite ). Essentially I wanted most cards to have a second use if discarded by Daretti, Scrap Savant .

But also the idea is to load your side of the Battlefield up with artifacts and smash face.

There is a whole lot of efficiency in this deck. Early game especially, cards like Ichor Wellspring , Mycosynth Wellspring , and Solemn Simulacrum will just flood you in value by cycling and recurring them with Daretti, Scrap Savant 's -2 ability or similar effects.

I tried to stay away from infinite combos and other unfun win conditions, but there still are a few combos scattered throughout the deck. My favorite, for instance, is Mycosynth Lattice + Nevinyrral's Disk + Darksteel Forge .

I had basically had the deck finished, and then WotC went and released Karn, the Great Creator . As a result I've basically built two versions of this deck. When allowed by my playgroup I will switch out Karn, Scion of Urza for the Great Creator and utilize a mostly control-based "sideboard". This will allow me to pull in the card(s) I need for any given situation. Karn, Scion of Urza is still a solid card for the deck for those times when it isn't allowed and/or needed.
