Modern Sultai Delver

A less traditional take on a midrange deck. It combines elements from traditional //x midrange decks like Jund or Abzan, and /x delver decks, like Grixis and Esper. This gives us a high density of High-Powered creatures and spells, like Tarmogoyf , Delver of Secrets  , and Assassin's Trophy . We use this composition to play a high powered midrange deck with blue in it, able to get very early beats going with delvers and goyfs, and also control the boardstate and the game.

Our manabase is pretty straightforward. Since our deck is primarily , our manabase reflects this.

3 Darkslick Shores as our Fast land of choice. lets up play any of our turn one spells on turn one, which sets us up for an explosive turn two.

1 Forest , Island , Swamp for protection against Blood Moon game two. Very good to be able to stop Fulminator Mage as well.

1 Breeding Pool for a u/g source

3 Misty Rainforest as a fetch that can fetch any color

2 Overgrown Tomb for a g/b source

4 Polluted Delta as a fetch that can fetch any color

2 Verdant Catacombs as a fetch that can fetch any color

3 Watery Grave to support the u/b core of the deck

Everything here is pretty straightforward, but I'll dive in anyways

4 Delver of Secrets  . One of the key cards of this deck, lets us attack with 3 in the air on t2, and is also a creature that gets taken out in some matchups if we want to go more midrange.

4 Tarmogoyf . Another Key card in the deck, allows for some absurdly large plays really early, and can become a 5/6 also really early in the game, thanks to Mishra's Bauble . Is a creature that can be partially moved out in favor of specific hate cards.

2 Grim Flayer . Helps me fill yard for Tarmogoyf /itself, can also flip delver really easily.

3 Assassin's Trophy . It's like if Abrupt Decay and Path to Exile had a beautiful baby. Really good against hard to remove cards like Blood Moon , and the downside is quite negligible.

3 Fatal Push . The premier black kill spell for a reason. Deals with a considerable amount of the most common creatures in modern, and Revolt is always a fetchland away.

3 Inquisition of Kozilek . Another card that deals with a ton of threats that our opponents could have.

2 Mana Leak . To be honest, I really wanted to run more of these, because being able to stop on curve plays is always good, and is good against decks that are somewhat starved for mana anyways.

4 Mishra's Bauble . While not card advantage, the information for 0 cost is quite good. Also gives us an artifact for Tarmogoyf .

2 Mission Briefing . Snapcaster Mage was in this space for a while, but honestly, I don't know what I was thinking. This is everything snappy does (besides attack/block), but it flips delver!

1 Opt . Sometimes, I just need to do something on an end step after holding up a counter. Opt lets me.

3 Serum Visions . Not sure if I prefer Opt here, but visions is in for now because of the extra scry. Sometimes being able to look one card deeper is all it takes.

3 Stubborn Denial . One of the best counterspells for our deck. Nearly always is an unconditional counter.

4 Thought Scour . Lets us fill our yard easier for Tarmogoyf and Snapcaster Mage . Gives us things to do after holding up mana.

1 Thoughtseize . Finishes up our discard suite, lets us take anything unconditionally for a small cost.

My sideboard was built with the idea of being able to take care of most matchups.

Damping Sphere comes in against Storm and Tron

Hurkyl's Recall comes in against Affinity

Leyline of the Void comes in against Dredge and Bridgevine.

Thoughtseize comes in against control decks and Humans.

Fulminator Mage comes in against Titanshift and Tron

Kitchen Finks comes in against Burn, Humans and Affinity.
