Kizmetto,
This is really coming together nicely; +1!

A few thoughts ...

  • I looked at Scourge Wolf but decided against it ... the was just too inconsistent and he ended up a turn 3 play more often than not. Mine's a much more Aggro deck though, so it might be fine in yours.
  • Expedite maybe? Sometimes for the Haste effect, but always for the draw.
  • Titan's Strength maybe? Scry's not draw of course, but it's nice.

My deck's over at Gruul Wolves (SOI Standard); you're welcome to drop by anytime!

Good luck (and good skill) on the build!

If you are trying to make it standard you will have to get rid of collected company and Atarka's command a as they wond be standard anymore once shadows over innistrad comes out

BatNerd1001,
No, DTK is legal until the fall. You may want to bookmark whatsinstandard.com.

Also, you can use the Card Link button (at the top of T/O Comment forms) or double square brackets to add card links:

[[collected company]] and [[Atarka's command]]
Collected Company and Atarka's Command

More tips are in the Formatting tips page at the bottom of every Comment form in T/O.

thank you for the comment!

Scourge Wolf hasn't been a bad play so far, but still looking for another nice 2 drop! Ember-eye Wolf maybe? Its cmc hasnt been revealed yet but hey, hoping its 1R !

Expedite could definitely be much more viable, and can help flip werewolves in a pinch...i'll do some testing with it!

Titan's Strength was in the original build but, im not sure. ended up dropping it but it made for explosive turns.

Alright! I'll take a look!

Kizmetto,
Yeah, based on Feral Ridgewolf, I'm guessing Ember-eye will be a 3-drop. I'd LOVE to be wrong though! :-)

Its a 2 drop! its perfect! I've decided to go deeper into the Collected Company route, and reduced the sorceries and instants down to the bare basics of CoCo and Atarka's Command. Increased creature count.

Expedite wasn't playing well in this sort of deck, even though the cantrip was good. Since i am going deep on the CoCo build, i've removed it in favor of more haste creatures. (turns out lots of wolves have haste)

Kizmetto,
I like Treason effects on the sideboard too. Depending on how the meta ends up, you might actually consider Eldrazi Obligator over Act of Treason. There's definite downside (it's actually a five-drop, plus you need colorless, plus CoCo nerfs the effect). But if we end up fighting a lot of Grixis Control, the fact it's uncounterable (the Treason effect happens on cast, not when it resolves) may be worth it.

if anyone was interested in reading the games. It ended up 2-1 my way in the end. Very close games though.

I learned Silverfur Partisan is not good in this kind of shell and has been replaced with Hermit of the Natterknolls  Flip. he has an extra toughness and can maybe bring some speed up for cards with the deck. Moved partisan to the sideboard because i think its very good against target removal decks and control shells.

clayperce I thought long and hard about the Eldrazi Obligator and i think it might be to hard to actually get the treason effect. I was thinking 2-3 Holdout Settlement for fixing and colourless source but to get it out as reliable as having the eldrazi im not sure.....but the meta will definately tell. uncounterable Act of Treason is nothing to scoff at. thank you for the suggestion, i forgot it was a card!

Ember-Eye Wolf is pretty meh IMO unless your really in need of haste which shouldn't really be an issue considering you are running Collected Company. Have you ever considered Timberpack Wolf or Lambholt Pacifist  Flip

March 31, 2016 1:35 a.m.

Kizmetto says... #13

Laxdragonhf Lambholt Pacifist  Flip isnt reliable enough , but the Ember-Eye Wolf is very useful for its pseudo-firebreathing ability, often being able to trade up in most cases. The haste is a bonus. Timberpack Wolf isn't so bad.

Laxdragonhf and Kizmetto
For whatever it's worth, I agree. Haste for the early game is what drew me to Ember-Eye Wolf, but the mid- and especially late-game pump is what's kept it in my deck. I've found it especially nice when I've been unfortunately drawn into a long grindy game.

Kizmetto,
Instead of pseudo-firebreathing, how about Dog Breath? :-D

clayperce omg dog breath is so cute, using that!

Kizmetto,
I was thinking about your other mirror, and wondering if you've playtested against CoCo Goodstuff yet? And if so, how does Wolf synergy compare to All The ETBs?

Two other thoughts:

  • Have you tested without the Evolving Wilds? I know it's great color fixing, but I really dislike the 'put it onto the battlefield tapped' piece. Unless you end up with a Landfall trigger in the sideboard or something, I think one more Cinder Glade is strictly better. Not sure on the other one.
  • I'm totally guessing of course, but for Game Day I think I'd bet on Tears of Valakut in the sideboard over Roast.

Kizmetto says... #17

clayperce I haven't tested with Evolving Wilds yet but i have a higher land count, was intended for thinning but its really...not great. i feel like i'll put the cinder glade and the forest back.

I should try against..i think bant company is the regular deck (oh my god deathmist raptors...)? i should try it. thanks for the tip! (I've considered running one or two raptors in this deck but alas no one is trading.I'd drop a breakneck and a geier reach for them, i think. If i did get some and play with it a bit. I should play before i buy them.. Plays well with coco and den protector, deathtouch and recursion. hmmmmmmmm what do you think?)

You think flying will be much more prevalant come game day? Im so worried about Thing in the Ice  Flip its not funny anymore, that thing chumps so well and then just one transformation and it really wrecks you. arh. i'll be playing most fridays leading up to it, will see how the meta is at my shop. Mmm as it stands, i only have Atarka's Command Moonlight Hunt and Rending Volley for flyers , maybe tears would be good.

March 31, 2016 4:43 a.m.

clayperce says... #18

Kizmetto,
I've no idea on the Bant Company inclusions. Very sorry.

For me, I think it's just that Wolves are generally strong on the ground but weak against flyers. So between Vamps, Angels, and Dragonlords we may have our work cut out for us. But yeah, individual shop metas vary so much, it's REALLY hard to say.

For whatever it's worth, while I'm worried about Thing, I'm frankly more worried about Reality Smasher and the bigger Eldrazi.

clayperce thoughts on Nissa, Voice of Zendikar? im thinking about dropping Collected Company down to 3...but its a pretty key card so im not sure. Increased Den Protector to a 4 of.

We got Roast for those 'drazi! but yeah, gotta see the meta.

Have you checked out Call of the Full Moon over Howlpack Resurgence?

March 31, 2016 10:29 a.m.

clayperce says... #21

Kizmetto,
Nissa, Voice of Zendikar as a one-of? Blurgh. Not becuase of the card, but because I want as much consistency as possible, so I'm not a fan of anything as a one-of. As a two- or three-of though, maybe. Problem is I'm not sure where to get the slot. I always love her -2, and her +1 is great when behind. So she's stronger, I think, than either Breakneck Rider  Flip or Hermit of the Natterknolls  Flip. But with CoCo needing as many creatures a possible, I'm just not sure ...

March 31, 2016 10:40 p.m.

Kizmetto says... #22

hm yep playtested and you just dont draw nissa, gonna drop her. just dont know what to make a 4 of... gonna put collected company back to a 4 of.

been looking at deathmist raptor but then its just like rg megamorph but a 3/3 deathtoucher with recursion and cocoable is very nice. i like having creatures i can rely on, without losing power by the transform mechanic...just the deck is very solid at this stage.

definately swapping roast for tears of valakut, good call there!

Kizmetto,
Thinking about Treason effects again: Mob Rule. Pretty sure your deck don't want a 6-drop, but figured I'd mention it anyways.
