This deck aims to cast a Polymorph as early as turn 4(Most likely turn 5-6 to have mana for a counter spell) by sacrificing a token to get a Progenitus into play very early. The deck is very budget because this is a more casual focused modern deck and I don't want to dish out hundreds for something I don't plan to play in competitve irl.
Going over the deck1) Combo Pieces:Polymorph - Obviously the reason to build the deck. Let's you win as early as turn 4. A turn 4 Progenitus is hard to beat.
Progenitus - Playing him over Emrakul, the Aeons Torn simply because Progenitus is less expensive ($) and offers a very fast clock your opponent has to immediately deal with or race.
2) Draw/Cantrips:Gitaxian Probe - Allows us to see what are opponent is up to while allowing us to dig for a Polymorph, token generator, or counter spell.
Anticipate - Cheap draw spell that allows us to dig for anything we need. Modern doesn't offer much for cheap draw spells/cantrips so this was the best I could find along with See Beyond. Playing more of this because I can dig through the top 3 instead of the top 2 which is very relevant.
Peer Through Depths - Fantastic card for the deck. Gets any part of our combo, a counterspell, or even a draw spell if we don't find what we need. Also puts Progenitus to the bottom if we find him in the top 5. 4 is probably the correct number but I don't know what to cut for the fourth (Maybe an Anticipate?)
See Beyond - Probably much worse than Anticipate and Peer Through Depths but having a way to shuffle a Progenitus back into our library if it is in our hand seems worth running 1-2.
3) Counter Spells/Removal;Swan Song - Cheap counterspell that is just there to make sure the combo doesn't get countered and our Progenitus doesn't die (wrath effects, sacrifice). I think 3 may be too many in the mainboard as the card is usually not great against decks that wants to race us. Going to stick with 3 for now and see how it plays out. Spell Pierce seems like a solid replacement if the 2/2 is too much to give.
Mana Leak - Cheap, Efficient, and good against any deck. While it may be better to run more Swan Songs or even Spell Pierce mainboard I like the idea that this card is more useful against decks that can counter our game plan.
Path to Exile - Cheap and removes any creature they have. I don't really care about the land they get as it doesn't stop our combo directly and the ability to instantly remove any creature is very valuable so we have time to dig for the combo.
4) Token generators:Raise the Alarm - The ability to make tokens at my opponent's end step is huge. This allows the deck to combo off on your next turn immediately and gives the opponent little ways to stop you outside of counterspells or mutliple removal spells. The fact that it makes 2 tokens is also great as it's another target for Polymorph if the first one fails and it makes my opponent's 1 for 1 removal much worse.
Secure the Wastes - I value the ability to make instant speed tokens extremely high so secure the wastes seemed excellent. Early on I can only make 1-2 tokens but Polymorph only needs one to work. Late game Secure the Wastes suddenly becomes a win condition we can use when Polymorph into Progenitus isn't enough. Not sure if 3 is the correct number yet but the instant speed and late game value made it very appealing.
Timely Reinforcements - While it is a sorcery... Timely Reinforcements is just an excellent card. Aggresive matchups will most likely be a huge issue for this deck as it has little removal and board wipes. Finding the combo is important so that leaves us with little room for cards that only improve certain matchups. Timely Reinforcements is great because it helps our aggressive matchup a ton while providing tokens for Polymorph. 4 may be the correct number but I'm going to stick with 3 for now as against control it won't be the best generator.
5) Mana base: Deck is going to be very budget as this is definitely not a top tier modern deck and is simply something I'm making to screw around with and blow people out with. That being said, I own the Flooded Strands already and the other lands are very cheap so the mana base is fairly solid.
6) Sideboard: Not going into detail now as a lot of it is bound to change and it doesn't seem great right now. I just threw in some cards good against some Modern decks to have a sideboard completed.
