I do think that Wakestone Gargoyle, along with your beloved Kessig Wolf Run can be a win con! ;)

Also, there are time when you can go infinite mana, but there's nothing you can do with it... Omnath, Locus of Mana might be a good idea. Ramps a bit, can be useful in combo times.

elpokitolama Yes, there are occasions when its T3 and you can go infinite but don't have anything to do with it, and sometimes that's unavoidable, but generally you almost always have something to do with it. Between Kessig Wolf Run, Primeval Titan, Banefire Emrakul, the Aeons Torn, Staff of Domination you have a pretty slate of options for winning the game with infinite mana.
That said, Wakestone Gargoyle is an intriguing option.

You've got a ton of options, a ton of card draw, and a tutor that can both seek out any of our combo pieces (except for Bloom Tender), or become one itself. If you have infinite mana and nothing to do with it. It won't be for long.

Very impressive! I dunno.... Maybe Dakra Mystic for faster draw and mill?

I think I'm better off with Wall of Omens for quick card draw, simply because it enables my combo but thanks for the feedback!

Hey SilentNightIndustries I have actually. The problem is what would I remove for it? I wouldn't want to remove any of my win-cons or offensive weapons, as the defender ramp engine leaves my offensive pieces at a premium. It ramps pretty exponentially as it is without it.

You definitely need a 3 drop win con. Blue Sun's Zenith seems to be an excellent one. Being able to Transmute into your win con can mean the difference between winning right away, or durdling on the top of your deck.

I know this isn't the best place to find out, but how do I see the top rated decks for any format?

kameenook I have that already in Staff of Domination. You can find the top decks in any format in Deck Search filter by format, score, and decending order.

I suppose, although Blue Sun's Zenith is not a bad card outside of your infinite mana combo. Many times I drew Staff of Domination, but was not able to make infinite mana with it because the hoops were just too high.

Staff isn't really what you're looking to make infinite mana with, though it's an alternate method. The main means of getting infinite mana is for Freed on Axebane or Bloom Tender. Staff would primarily be used as a tutorable Wincon once infinite is achieved. Axebane, and Freed are all tutorable as well.

This is all true and I realize it. Which brings me to another problem, usually I had the Bloom Tender + Freed from the Real combo out (or could have played it) but found myself lacking enough blue mana to go for the win that turn. I would personally drop 2 Kessig Wolf Run, and maybe City of Brass in favor of more fetchlands (Misty Rainforest). Wall of Omens is to me, way more powerful than Wakestone Gargoyle, because I'm usually not winnning through incremental damage, but instead just one big turn. If you want the 3/4 flying body, you might consider Restoration Angel being that it has flash, can blink a Wall of Omens for more cards, or blink a non-aured Bloom Tender/Axebane Guardian to save it from a removal spell.

I agree with you about Wakestone...he is a new addition and in play testing he definitely reduced effectiveness. Gonna be reverting back.

I still like the multiples of Kessig Wolf Run because it allows for Birds or Bloom Tender to swing for the win with the combo. Don't want to always rely on Prime Time to fetch it. Thanks for all the input though. Most certainly has been helpful.

It's also crazy when you make a change you think has nothing but upside and it ends up being detrimental. Love this game.
January 12, 2015 12:57 p.m.
There are quite a few games where my mana sink is Kessig, however also being a problem was reliably making the green mana to get the first activation down. Misty Rainforest/Steam Vents/Stomping Ground might help to be able to fetch for the necessary colors.

deck amazing really nice, to give speed to the creatures because use Fervor?? Staff of Domination are only 2 why not put 3 ???

Wyxon, thanks for the feedback. Previous builds used to run 3x Staff of Domination but I found that it was largely inefficient without the combo and running 2x seemed to be the sweet spot, especially since they can be tutored with Drift of Phantasms. Fervor is great, but the question is what would I remove in order to fit it? I want to be able to maintain enough protection for my combo so running the 4x Pact of Negation is a must, and given how important spot removal, board wipes, and the ability to deal with enchantment/artifacts are in Modern, I feel like I need to maintain the 2ofs for Path to Exile and Cyclonic Rift as they provide me highly efficient and versatile solutions.

I know flash is cool and all, but Hushwing seems worse than Torpor Orb. Firstly, the extra mana is certainly not a good thing. Secondly, the extra white mana means you'll need white to play it, which can sometimes be tough to do properly in 5 color. The fixing is tough enough as it is. Third, being a creature, it dies to a lot more removal spells than Torpor does, especially since Hushwing only has 1 toughness.
January 13, 2015 7:39 p.m.
Emrakul-the-Format-Broken Let me tell you, this is NOT a five-color deck. It's at its best, 3 color with splash. This is a Bant deck, getting white mana is not a problem. Also, flash is the reason to play Hushwing Gryff, combos will tap out, yes they will tap out, for their combo thinking they can win, but flash means they wasted their turn for the most part, giving you time to stop the combo. When Torpor Orb hits the field, your opponent stares at it for a couple of seconds, finds a way to get around it, and then plays the long game choosing to remove the Torpor Orb just in time to combo out and win.

Additionally the extra mana means Hushwing is tutorable for me.

CharlesMandore Again, Surgical Extraction is in the sideboard and is which is the fifth color. As for Wall of Denial it's a great card, it just doesn't serve my purpose at that cost. At 3cmc and above I want to be casting a combo, piece, transmuting for a combo piece or casting a beater, not another defender. Great card though.
