There are unfortunately very few solutions to board wide non-targeting exile. At least in a format without the old "Phasing" ability like Shimmer
November 14, 2013 4:48 p.m.
Ahhh yes... I worked out that combo but it's a pain in the ass.
Turn everything into creatures (bye bye creature enchantments), give them all phasing, and then forcibly phase them out.
It'd be easier to dupe Oblivion Ring and exile everything, let the board wipe resolve, then get it all back :)

Yeah...the only feasible answer to something like that is a counterspell... hence Mana Leak

Actually, Banefire is the most red of all the X cost red spells ever printed.
Uncounterable. Impossible to prevent. Damage as big as your manapool. No fucks given. Red send his regards.

@Jsansoldo I think that's debatable. Comet Storm hits all targets and is instant speed.

Though don't get me wrong....both are pretty damn Red. :)
November 18, 2013 2:13 p.m.
Hahaha, I've been in love with red ever since I started playing magic.
Sure Instant speed has his strategic capabilities, but I dont think that matters when your spell is uncounterable, and his damage cant be prevented. Unfortunately he can still redirect the damage, but thats unlikely.
Anyway, +1 for the deck. :D

I think Banefire would definitely work better for this deck as it has to be buffered for control. Thanks for the suggestion!

if you add Vent Sentinel you can have another infinite damage combo

UrbanAnathema says... #14
Hm. I think for that to work I would need infinite mana as well as Freed from the Real on Vent Sentinel as well. Might be too difficult to pull off consistently...
But thanks so much for the suggestion and the +1!

i use a similar style for one of my decks X factor but i use Blue Sun's Zenith to draw my entire deck to pull out my five "X" cards, all cancleation cards, and elixir of immortaillity to put it all back. all in all your deck looks fantastic i gove it +1

Thanks for the +1 and the comment! Elixir of Immortality is an underrated card. Particularly great against Mill. In this deck's case Emrakul, the Aeons Torn provides the ability to put the deck back if for some reason I can't kill them that turn. (Which is HIGHLY unlikely.) And additionally nerfs a Mill strategy.

yea Emrakul, the Aeons Torn is the best anti-mill card in the game i can't think of a single card better i just dont like the price tag involed with it. i have found a way around it use Blue Sun's Zenith on the opponent during their upkeep so they have to draw all their cards before their draw phase. its funny to see their face when you do that

Yeah I truly have tried to build this deck for versatility. So many cards have multiple uses depending on the situation I'm faced with at the time. Basically theres an answer in here to almost everything.

i think Armageddon would be pretty cool in this deck

No tutors?
Congregation at Dawn , Idyllic Tutor , Chord of Calling , Signal the Clans , Fauna Shaman , Perplex and/or Diabolic Tutor ?
I also think a haste function might be useful. Mass Hysteria , Messenger's Speed , Shinen of Fury's Fire or Fervor come to mind.
November 26, 2013 1:31 p.m.
ohh, didn't notice the big ass Modern Tag there. lol

@Femme_Fatale I used to run Fauna Shaman but would end up discarding defenders which is likely not what I want. I think Congregation at Dawn has real promise would you have a recommendation on what I should drop to include?

I would honestly think Signal the Clans would be better as since you have three defenders and three creature win-cons. Or Perplex /Drift of Phantasms , as that could tutor up any of your win-cons including you non-creature ones: Axebane Guardian , Freed from the Real , Staff of Domination , Fist of Suns or Blue Sun's Zenith .
If you're going to use Congregation at Dawn , I would lower Vampire Nighthawk and Loxodon Smiter both by one, and remove Omniscience for my reasoning is that if you have an infinite mana combo to play Enter the Infinite , then you wouldn't need Omniscience to be able to play everything. Then I would remove Overgrown Battlement entirely and put them in your choice of your other mana-rampers, you'll need that extra any-colour producer more than you would need another defender if you have a tutor.
If you are going to run Signal the Clans , I would do the above, but leave Overgrown Battlement intact.
If you were to run Perplex or Drift of Phantasms , the same would apply to the above again, except Perplex could replace Mana Leak and/or Drift of Phantasms could replace Overgrown Battlement .
I also just remembered Tolaria West for the Kessig Wolf Run tutor.

Ah, yes, board wipe!
The only thing I haven't figured out how to fix is board-wide exile (a-la Decree of Annihilation ), but try the following in no particular order:
