You should really play Bloom Tender , since its a lot easier and more reliable to ensure the combo with him and Freed from the Real , since you dont need another defender. Maybe cut out black, you are too fast for most of your black cards and im sure there are other touturs too.

tapir123 The drawback of Bloom Tender doesn't allow me to generate mana in all five colors. Its likely I would only have access to green and blue most times.

Its an interesting thought though and I shall definitely consider. The advantage of the defenders is that they escalate each others ramp even without the combo, so that I can win relatively quickly even if I don't get the combo.

As for removing black... Maelstrom Pulse is my catch all removal, given its versatility its kind of necessary as my only other removal is Simic Charm Perplex is also just a great means of fetching whatever I need and also having a counter when I need it.

you could play Detention Sphere for removal, and instead of casting removal on t3 rather cast a defender or something else

Ancient Ziggurat prevents you from assembling the combo and shouldn't be here

scottemery I have only recently included Bloom Tender as an secondary means of achieving the infinite mana combo. You may also wish to consider if not Axebane since you don't really run defenders...but Somberwald Sage might be a good backup option for you to run along side Bloom Tender Thanks for the +1!

Wow. Infinite combo, very awesome!

+1 :)

I would be very interested to see how Freed from the Real will work in modern with creatures that have the inspired mechanic! I never knew about the enchantment but it's very interesting!

This is truly the best deck with infinite axebane combo. This blows the other ones away and I'm impressed.

Thanks guys.

JakeHarlow Here's hoping they don't ban it from the format because of those interactions. Lol.

rogerrr Thanks. It's come a long way...

It won't be banned because it takes enough time to set up. It's like Splinter Twin--easily countered if you have the sideboard cards for it.

Snow_Lynx says... #18

It will never be banned - its easily countered if your opponent has what it takes to break off the combo. Using my deck as an example, Suppression Field would slow the combo, and Nevermore on Freed from the Real would seriously break it up. Also Path to Exile on the mana-generating creatures could also easily work and would pass most of your resistances. Even if a major threat drops, Porphyry Nodes could take care of Emrakul, etc.

Nevertheless, its a very nice set-up and deck-building. Best use of that defender guy Ive seen.

+1 from me.

Thanks for the +1 Snow_Lynx. I took a look at your deck and it does indeed look like a combo deck's nightmare. :)

A lot of thought has gone into the deck and the sideboard to allow for different resistances depending on the threat and deck type. Decks running Path to Exile would be running Mizzium Skin and Mana Leak to resist. Cyclonic Rift can also be used against the more disruptive permanents when you're ready to make your move.

Thanks again for the +1 and the kind words!

I see... interesting use of Cyclonic Rift and Mizzium Skin . It might do the trick indeed.
