I would drop sylvan messenger for another Dwynen as sylvan messenger is essentially a weaker collected company where as Dwynen will not only pump up your other elves, but also provide you with life gain making the deck as a whole more resilient.

I would also cut the mana confluence in favor of temple of malady.

Hey

Iv done a bit of testing an don't like thornbow archer an sylvan messagener is way to strong to not have included in the main board! Iv found x2 obelisk of urd/x1 gilt-leaf winnower an x1 whisperwood elemental to be so much better. Urd gives you another finisher gilt-leaf gives a good chord target removal an whisperwood is an amazing chord board wipe save!

You can also cut down one land only run 20 put one more urborg in the deck. Cut 1 rec sage to the side an 1 dwynen, gilt-lead daen an the 4 thorn bow archers so you can have the chord package above an finisher as well as 3 sylvan messengers!!

@Matchewy

Thanks I appreciate the advice! I'm heading to my local shop tomorrow so I'm going to test your set up. After I test it, I'll edit it on here too. Thanks for the suggestion!

Also the other reason to cut thornbow archer because you prefer to play a mana dork turn 1 not the thornbow. 8 1 drops is a lot you don't want to many in that slot

You can try adding a Liliana, Heretical Healer  Flip or/and some Merciless Executioner. You can grab them with the Collected Company for some on the spot removal with the latter.

20 lands seems really short. I run 23 in my Co-Co build and my curve is lower (2.88 > 2.3) http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/gw-aggro-dot-fnm/ A couple black/green cards that give me the most trouble are Hornet Nest and Self-Inflicted Wound

I realize you have 8 total mana dorks Gnarlroot Trapper and Elvish Mystic, against red decks those aren't something you can always count on and the number of one land hands that you have to mull go up.

loki_hap:

20 lands did seem short to me too at first. I got the suggestion to go to 20 and I decided to try it. What I found was that it really rounded out my mana base and I actually found that it balanced the deck perfectly. This deck can do plenty on only 3 mana.

And Hornet Nest has been on my mind quite frequently in relation to this deck. I can think of a ton of reasons both to have and to not have it. I'll playtest it with Hornet Nest and see how it goes. The Self-Inflicted Wound is in sideboard because it's too situational. If you play a Mardu dragons deck (one of the worst matchups for standard elves by the way) it's a completely dead card.

both are def sideboard cards, Whip of Erebos could be a maindeck card even as a one of. The thing I like about maindeck one of's like the ones in my deck and things like whip in this deck is if people see it they make assumptions and may sideboard against it, and as a one of you may not see it again. there are pro's and con's to that rationale but I have held by it whenever it makes sense.
