Decided to stick with the deck with no changes after the last testing session. Results were far better than expected. Lost in the finals to Rhinos on a Boat. We went 3-1-1 going into the top 8 and ended 5-2-1. Not bad for my second competitive REL event and first real event piloting Affinity.
Things of note: Never got to get a chalice down. The matchups where I drew a chalice in my opening 7 were the ones where it was irrelevant. The matchups where I attempted to bring it down where it was useful it got countered. this did let me stick other threats so that much was good. Still, we didn't get to live the dream of Chalice on 1 T1.
Master of Etherium didn't feel as good in most instances. Sure he was typically a big beater, but he was almost always blocked, pathed or dismembered. In the future, we'll likely keep him back on defense unless the board is clear. My semi-final match felt great though when I brought down two masters and put my opponent on a two turn clock.
Etched champion was an allstar for me today. My opponents were genuinely afraid of it, to the point of tanking while trying to find a way to outplay and force me into losing a champion.
Steel Overseer performed well for me today. There were a few matches where he managed to get in and get a couple activations down. It felt much better than a ghostblade.
I misplayed with welding jar a few times. Most notable was a shattering spree replicated on a ravager and a master of etherium, I completely forgot about welding jar and put modular on a junky creature. this earned me the 1 loss prior to getting to the finals. I genuinedly thought I might be out since it was a 5 round event and I drew a round., thankfully I stayed in and took the next two rounds like a champ.
