Take out Elspeth, Sun's Champion , Midnight Haunting , and Soul Warden . Take out 1-2 anthems. Up Thoughtseize to 4. Main board 4 Path to Exile . Have 23 lands, 4 of which should be Godless Shrine . Now on to your sideboard. What is your local meta? Take a look at my deck for ideas if you want. Swarm and Conquer V 2.0.

Thanks xzzane.

After testing it last night, you are right about the suggestions. Had some land issues and will be adding 1-2 more land in. I don't have any Godless Shrine so will be looking to acquire them. Same with Thoughtseize (only have 2), and Inquisition of Kozilek should help until then.

As for the local meta, I'm not sure. Currently I only run modern with friends, but looking into doing some modern events. Once I know what the meta is like, then the sideboard should be better.

Thanks again for the help!

No problem. You really should take out Soul Warden though. Or replace her with Auriok Champion . You should have cards like Stony Silence , Rest in Peace , Rule of Law , Leyline of Sanctity , Aven Mindcensor , etc. for the sideboard. Take out 1 anthem for a 4th Zealous Persecution .

Thanks again for the suggestions xzzane!

I made several changes. Still trying to get some Godless Shrine and 2 more Thoughtseize . Trying to figure out what to replace Sin Collector with in the main board and Revoke Existence in the sideboard (thinking Banishing Light ).

I will be taking this to Modern Monday at a LGS tonight, so should know more about the local meta after.

For your sideboard you want cards like Torpor Orb and Grafdigger's Cage . Take out Revoke Existence , Rootborn Defenses , Stain the Mind and Tragic Slip . Add a4th Path to Exile in replace of Sin Collector . Also don't worry about Bitterblossom . It's not good for b/w tokens.

Disenchant in place of Revoke Existence. Instant speed!

xzzane, after last night, I will definitely be picking up a couple of Torpor Orb and Grafdigger's Cage .

spinoza1791, I saw Disenchant played last night and might get a couple.

This deck is really fun to run. Even if I get comments like "you're running the event deck?".

I posted the results in the update section and has the start of what the local meta is like.

I've gotten that comment before as well. They change their tone when they realize I've been playing b/w tokens well over a year before the modern event deck. I've even beat the top player in my state 2-0. Also, while slightly harder to cast, Sundering Growth is a good alternative to Disenchant .

When I try out Sundering Growth, I sometimes get caught with the 2 white mana condition in a pinch. IMO, the extra token, while a great bonus, doesn't compensate for it being potentially less consistent in a bind when you need to take out that artenh, else lose the game.

This can happen, that is true. I've found that I had better sideboard card choices anyway than Disenchant or Sundering Growth as it was.

Yeah, I noticed the change of tone after a couple of games, and even got complements by the end of the night.

I think I will give Sundering Growth a shot since i have access to it at the moment and not Disenchant .

I'm glad you got a few compliments at least. Not sure if I asked this before, but what is your local meta? Your sideboard needs a good bit of work, but you mainboard is looking a lot better, once you get the Thoughtseize s. Temple of Silence needs to go though.

You asked before, but I didn't know what it was like until last night. From what I saw / played, there was Mono Blue Tron, UW Tron, Mono White Kit-Kins, Mono Red Burn, Merfolk, maybe one Affinity, not sure about the rest yet.

Yeah, looking at getting 2 more Thoughtseize , some Godless Shrine , 2 Grafdigger's Cage and 2 Torpor Orb . Doubt I would be able to get them all before the PTQ though.

Fish is a really bad matchup for tokens. Engineered Explosives is really good against them though. Leyline of Sanctity is great against burn. Zealous Persecution basically handles Affinity, but Stony Silence is great additional hate. And good luck with the PTQ! Sadly I will not be able to attend any this year. I always seem to be busy when they come up...

I was able to acquire a couple Thoughtseize (took out a Sorin, Lord of Innistrad and a Inquisition of Kozilek ) and a couple Godless Shrine (taking out a Windbrisk Heights and the Temple of Silence ). I think I have the sideboard good. Thinking about switching out Sword of Feast and Famine for a Ghost Quarter .

I added a Ghost Quarter in the main board, not sure if that would be good or not.

Thanks again xzzane, for the help!

Once you get your +2 Godless Shrine's, I've had success reducing Caves of Koilos from 4 to 1 or even 0 by subing in more Plains. The reason is that this version of BW tokens needs available black and white mana all the time, and I sometimes end up pinging myself for up to five life during a game with Koilos. Just a thought for you!

Have you considered Secure the Wastes to replace maybe 2 of the Raise the Alarm late game it's a much stronger card than Raise the Alarm and you're playing 4 of them.

Nomad0404, I tried Secure the Wastes once and didn't have any success with it. I seemed to always draw it early in the game and never needed it. If I was stuck on 3 mana, paying 3 for 2 ground guys seemed like a waste.

January 12, 2016 7:14 a.m.

I find it interesting that you're running full sets of both Raise the Alarm and Bitterblossom. Have you considered cutting the alarms in order to MD the pair of Auriok Champions and the 2 Timely Reinforcements? Doing that should free up some SB space for more hateful cards to bring in against tough matchups (like those Mirran Crusaders for Jund), as well as give you better game 1's against Twin, Jund, and Burn. I also like the idea of cutting a planeswalker for an additional removal spell like Dismember or (preferably)Slaughter Pact. Doing so will help with Infect, but that's a tough matchup if you don't have discard on turn 1.

GeminiSpartanX, I have been considering main boarding Auriok Champion for 2 Raise the Alarm. And that would allow me to add Mirran Crusader to the side. My main reason for doing this was because of the twin match-up, but that wont be necessary anymore due to the ban. Not sure if I will still main board it or not yet. I'm not sure about main boarding Timely Reinforcements, but will test it out.

I do like the idea of Slaughter Pact and will try that out.

Thank you for the suggestions!

January 16, 2016 3:34 p.m.

Well, Slaughter Pact was mostly there to hedge against the Twin combo, but unless some other creature combo starts gaining popularity, I don't think it's as necessary along with the Auriok Champions (although the Champions work well against Burn and zoo too). I'm sure many decks will need to change somewhat based on the new bans.

January 17, 2016 5:25 p.m.

List looks really solid. I like it! Although I'm a tad surprised at no Hero of Bladehold in the sideboard. Obviously you don't want him in the main, but in the side he's super good after they board out all their removal. I have no idea if it's a good meta choice, but I do know it is a popular option.

January 31, 2016 10:51 p.m.

xzzane says... #24

Hero of blade hold isn't the best in tokens. It's amazing when she sticks, but people will typically have more removal than they can side out, and when you compare it to the walkers that tokens has at its disposal it just isn't worth the slots in the 75.

ToolmasterOfBrainerd, I used to have her when I first built the deck. She was a huge target and didn't stay out for more than a turn or two. Like xzzane said, walkers are better for that spot than hero.
