Sideboard

A different take on a U/W Heroic deck from a few years ago. Since Tenth District Legionnaire is basically the same thing as Battlewise Hoplite except with haste, I can forgo blue in the color profile and add much more aggressive auras like Dragon Mantle and Ordeal of Purphoros .

Cards like Expedite and Angelic Gift are the backbone of this deck's flow. Since they draw a card, the big weakness of auras being two-for-oned is reduced and this lets me play with a smaller pool of cards. I wanted as few dead cards as possible. In testing, the card which became dead most often was Hero of Iroas , since he's two mana and doesn't have haste. I don't know if it's worth replacing him though, since he has a pretty nice benefit in making my auras cheaper.

The sideboard is a bit underdeveloped. If I go up against a more controlling build, I can go wide by replacing Cartouche of Zeal and Ordeal of Purphoros with Cartouche of Solidarity and Murder Investigation . Against a faster aggro deck, I can run Ordeal of Heliod and more Unquestioned Authority .

Spectra Ward is... I don't know. I don't think I ever used it with this deck yet.

Heroic decks centered around Favored Hoplite and Hero of Iroas are great to build every now and again. They are very inexpensive for their power level while not being obnoxiously complex like some of the meta in modern. I've gifted multiple U/W Heroic decks to friends, hoping to re-introduce them to the game without breaking bank and it's worked very well for me.

Let me know if you have an idea for how to improve this while keeping it budget!
