It's more than possible, between Ensoul Artifact, Thassa, God of the Sea, Renowned Weaponsmith, Illusory Angel, Monastery Siege, and even one from Keranos, God of Storms.

Yeah, but you would have to get all your blue drops into play. I don't think that Thassa, God of the Sea's potential is explored at its best. I know the scry every turn is great, but taking off the bidents (artifacts btw), we lose the draw power.
February 3, 2015 8:56 p.m.
KaedynCross says... #4
Losing the draw power is alright due to the gained scry/card selection from other sources.
The other big thing about Thassa, God of the Sea is the fact that she can make one or more creatures unblockable in a turn. That can be devastating, especially in an aggro based deck like this one.

Or unblockable 5/5 Ornithopter, or Darksteel Citadel.
I've had some games before Thassa, God of the Sea was added, where i could've ended the game turn 4-5, but i couldn't get past opponents new and fun blocker A and B.
If the game ends up extended anyway, the card selection she provides is OP.

Also, if you're going red, consider Generator Servant and Shrapnel Blast. I don't run these cards because i want to stay monoblue.. but hey, synergy!

Riptide Chimera 3/4 flyer that protects your Ensoul Artifact for 3? sure!

I literally only splashed a very small amount of red for one Keranos, God of Storms. I'd have to rework the entire landbase to add in more red cards, and it would lose consistency in the deck.
Riptide might not be bad, but it would only net protection temporarily. On top of that, you can only return the enchantment on your upkeep, so if they do something on their turn then you're in a bind.

Hey KaedynCross with the red splash, I know it may not seem reliable but you could consider the Springleaf Drum red mana as well couldn't you? I'm not saying go crazy on the thought but to me that would almost allow 2 if not 3 Shrapnel Blast available to you.. But it'd still be kind of risky..
February 5, 2015 8:22 p.m.
KaedynCross says... #12
The risk is the problem, especially in a format where consistency wins games.
Between the mountain and the Springleaf Drum's i feel perfectly safe running one Keranos, God of Storms. And as a one of, he has a LOT of potential. It puts my opponent on a timer and gives me card draw, and on the off chance he becomes a creature, he's huge.
Keranos becomes a late game strategy in this deck most of the time, when the board is stalling out. Most games you want to put out as much early as possible and try to win turns 5-6 at the latest.

Here's the stats from tonight's FNM. Fairly large turnout for the store up there, and it went fairly well. The deck had issues vs Sidisi Whip in Round 3, and in Round 4 i had bad drawing luck. Overall, it was a pretty successful run, and i don't see any immediate changes i would personally make.
Round 1 was pretty grindy mid-range Temur vs mine. Keranos, God of Storms was a huge MVP that match.
Round 2 was, hilariously enough, a mirror matchup.
And Round 5 was against a Sultai Delver that i was fairly rapid to clean up.

Sadly I went up a jeskai token deck and terrible draw luck... Lost 0/2, went up against esper control and went 1/2.... Then finally ended up going against an abzan aggro and it shined. Funny you added the Shrapnel Blast the same time I did after seeing my Scuttling Doom Engine get exiled 3 times... I was done lol

With the amount of red mana i have available, Shrapnel Blast was overall better than Illusory Angel in most situations. So i put it in as a two of.

My only issue with it is that it's 5 mana to sacrifice the land for two 1/1 thopter tokens.
If you didn't have to sacrifice it then the land would be great, but since it has that requirement it isn't that good.

Foundry of the Consuls is okay if you're flooded with lands at the end of the game. I personally only run two in this Standard artifact deck, Just Like Clockwork.

I think a 4th Ensoul Artifact would be really good here. Maybe you could take out the Alhammarret's Archive it just doesn't do enough to be good here... Cool Deck +1
July 15, 2015 9:57 p.m.
What do you think of Day's Undoing? It seems like it would be absolutely nasty with Sphinx's Tutelage, and helps after you've dumped your hand.
+1, definitely will try running this once I get these cards together, artifacts are just too cool!
July 15, 2015 10:51 p.m.
KaedynCross says... #22
Day's Undoing is actually a card I thought about side-boarding. You're right about its interaction with Sphinx's Tutelage, since it makes them mill at least 14 cards. Depending on the board state and the deck you're playing against it could definitely be a really solid spell to sideboard in.
The biggest advantage is that you still have all your lands and other permanents in play (that aren't in the graveyard or in hand), so it has the potential to put you ahead in card advantage depending on the board state.

Birdsturnone, I have the 4th Ensoul Artifact in the sideboard already. Alhammarret's Archive actually has a LOT of deck synergy.
Tomb of the Spirit Dragon gives double healing (which is huge with how many colorless creatures you can have on the field).
Monastery Siege and Thopter Spy Network provide decent extra card draw to also take advantage of the second passive on the Archive.
Overall, I feel the potential from one Archive mainboard is better than one more Ensoul.

Well first I would sugges adding in Seat of the Synod and company. You should really also have Steel Overseer and Pestermite. Oh wait....this is standard. Damn.
Ok jokes aside, I would rename it as "Affinity" is a misleading name for the deck. That said, I think the concept of the deck is pretty cool so +1 from me.
I do have to ask: how much testing has this deck gone through? I am asking because while I like the deck concept it looks very fragile at the same time too.
Running Ugin with only 21 lands and no solid way to ramp into it seems like a waste of 2 slots. The blade isn't a great ramp tool because it requires a creature, and it also need to stick around and attack. That leaves you with the Archive, which isn't bad but with only 2 copies and not a whole lot of card advantage to find them, not sure it warrants the use of ugin.
You also don't really have answers, which means you can't really interact with your opponent's board, which if you were a combo deck it wouldn't be bad but from the looks of it this is an aggro deck. Other than Aligned Hedron Network you really don't have any answers.
Your sideboard choices are linda odd too. The 2 copies of Hangarbacks should really be in the main if in any place at all. A full playset of Hedron Blade in the sideboard seems very excessive. Tutelage in the side is very odd too. If you want to mill it has to be in the MB, and it needs to be a dedicated strategy. I can't think of any match where someone would need to side in mill to win. That frees up quite a lot of spots and I would highly consider running things like Negate, or Dispel against control, which this deck seems weak against.
I can't really think of any real suggeation to make off the top of my head other than Whirler Rogue. I think he would fit in this pretty damn well.
Wrll, hope I helped a little bit, but keep brewing you got something cool here, the main thing you lack is really just answers.
