THE DESCRIPTION IS SLIGHTLY OUT OF DATE ILL UPDATE IT SOON TO THE DECK LIST

Sultai Eldrazi :

If you enjoyed the decklist and following walls of text that i just spent hours of my life typing (just kidding what life ;_;) dropping a up-vote and a comment its much appreciated friend.

Hello thanks for stopping by, lets get down to business. With wizards dropping the ban hammer on Emrakul, the Promised End, Smuggler's Copter, and Reflector Mage it left a huge gap in the meta game. With these meta defining cards out of the picture standard is a bright new world of possibilities and im confident the eldrazi menace which has plagued modern and continues to can sink its tentacles into standard as a competitive option.

Building a fantastic standard deck is only half if not more of the battle, but ill give you a nudge in the right direction for sitting in the pilot seat. This is a strictly mid-range deck. Its game plan is to curve out with efficient creatures while running a suite of disruption ie: removal, counter spells, and tap effects. Your job is to beat in the face of the opponent while trying your best to stave off the opponents game plan as efficiently as possible.

First of all by far the best play is a turn two Heart of Kiran followed by a third turn 3 power dude followed by a Elder Deep-Fiend or Thought-Knot Seer and then one of your big bad 5 drops. A close second is a turn two Servant of the Conduit followed up by a turn 3 Thought-Knot Seer and if the magic gods have smiled upon you a turn 4 Reality Smasher or Nissa, Vital Force behind that. Sounds like candy land but happens more than you think. You back these sequences up with efficient removal and specialized hate cards post board and you have a force to be reckoned with!

Tips and Tricks

  1. Warping Wail Is a 2 mana answer to the Copy Cat combo in response to Felidar Guardian's bounce on Saheeli Rai you can exile it and when it resolves the -2 has no target. Or if they play a Saheeli Rai with a Gaurdian on the battlefield you can just exile it in response.

  2. Spatial Contortion can do more than remove >3 toughness creatures it can also buff your own creatures giving it +3 attack. It can be used to effectively Lightning Strike your opponents face

  3. Another trick you can do with Spatial Contortion is block a +1'd Gideon, Ally of Zendikar with a 2+ power creature and then AFTER combat damage i repeat AFTER combat damage or else this will not work Spatial Contortion the Gideon, Ally of Zendikar and it will kill it through indestructible as the -3 isnt dealing damage.

  4. A admittedly less than ideal way to trigger revolt is to play a 2nd copy of Heart of Kiran or Skysovereign, Consul Flagship sacrifice one to the legends rule and then cast your Fatal Push with Revolt

  5. Remember when selecting your basic lands that Servant of the Conduit does NOT produce colorless mana as its technically not a color, sounds obvious but it can confuse a lot of people who haven't played this card in a colorless shell before

  6. If you sacrifice Matter Reshaper to emerge Elder Deep-Fiend with Sanctum of Ugin in play make sure to put Matter Reshaper's trigger on the stack so it resolves first as A: your deck will have a higher creature density before you search and B: You have more information letting you know whats the best creature to search for ie; did you hit a land from Matter Reshaper that will let you search for a more expensive creature?

  7. A interaction that i mistook for the longest time has to do with Matter Reshaper again, if you a reveal a nonpermanent (ie a instant/sorcery) it does not go back to the top of your library it instead goes into your hand. Again seems obvious but i played that wrong with reshaper ever since it came out

  8. Which creature is best to emerge you ask? Matter Reshaper > Scrapheap Scrounger > Rogue Refiner > Servant of the Conduit > Tireless Tracker

  9. Speaking of emerge dont be afraid to save your 3 drops and sac a Servant of the Conduit if its running low on energy or you would rather have a 3 drop, you can make up the 1 converted mana cost difference by tapping it and floating a mana then using it to emerge a Elder Deep-Fiend

  10. Dont sideboard in to many spells! Remember keep the spell count to maximum 7 maybe 8 if your feeling ambitious post board. Remember this deck wins off playing creatures and interacting with their synergies dont dilute your deck to much with spells you might not be able to use when your tapping out for creatures

  11. Wastes are basic lands! Most of you know this but this is for those who dont, the one wastes is for Evolving Wilds to fetch!

  12. Make sure you have a 2nd colorless source ready before sacrificing Sanctum of Ugin to get a colorless creature. God knows ive face palm'd from this one a few to many times

Ill make this when im for certain my sideboard is where i want it to be and i know what the big players are gonna be in the post ban aether revolt meta. But on another note your sideboard should always be tuned for your local meta and/or the event you plan to play your deck at. If your playing mtgo then my sb is gonna be tuned for the meta and you should be pretty safe using mine.
This section is gonna be a little sparse until i get my feet wet with this deck in the aether revolt meta but here are a few problems i see from the get go. Ill keep it updated as i find things, please let me hear your findings as far as problems with this deck in the comments!

Copy Cat Combo:

While i have little experience with this deck in person as the concept of Saheeli Rai and Felidar Guardian making infinite 1/4's with haste is new to standard. On paper it looks like this deck is gonna have a hard time finding on color sideboard answers for this combo. Thought-Knot Seer Looks to be our best bet maybe even casting Lost Legacy for Felidar Guardian but double black is actually quite hard to get with this mana base consistantly and i try to shy away from double costed anything when im running 4 colors. Over all it seems some combination of Thought-Knot Seer and Transgress the Mind picking it out of their hand. Or negating Saheeli Rai outright is our best bet. As far as preboard we do main-deck 4 Thought-Knot Seer's and we can always beat her face in with Heart of Kiran. EDIT- I JUST FOUND Warping Wail AND ITS THE PERFECT ANSWER THE MATCH UP JUST GOT A WHOLE LOT EASIER

Fast and Wide:

Although Fatal Push helps the problem exponentially its still there, the problem with running a mid-range deck with only 6 removal spells main board is these decks who curve out at 3 (im looking at you humans) can be a problem pre board. Its not bad to the point of unwinnable certainly not it just seems a little unfavorable at times. Elder Deep-Fiend can definitely pull you through and alot of your creatures are good at blocking. But the sideboard helps alot with Dead Weight and more Spatial Contortion 's. Over all i would say the matchup is 40/60 pre board and a whole lot better post board.

With recent bannings wotc has opened a floodgate of possibilities with the meta being shook up. Previous iterations i had run of this deck when the bans were not in place fell into this awkward spot of being to slow to deal with the fast pace of Smuggler's Copter decks and not fast enough to beat out opposing Emrakul, the Promised End casting's; I think its in a much better spot now. With its main problems banned away to the blind eternities and a ton of new pieces printed in my mind at least it stands a a possible competitor (or something quite similar) to plant its flag in the meta.

Holy shit! If your reading this either you took the time to read all of walls of text above me or you just cheated and skipped to the end (shame on you sir). But either way thanks for taking the time of day to listen to a humble man talk to you about his deck. Make sure to upvote and comment because if you've already wasted cough i mean spent this much time reading this why not take a few seconds more to make my day!

Have a good day lads
